  • demoinfo2 for Linux

    Hi!

I've created Makefile and a patch so demoinfo2 builds on Linux. I've built it using GNU's libstdc++ and glibc using both gcc and clang compilers. I can't test on other platforms, but it should work on most Unix based operating systems. It should still work on Windows operating systems, if protobuf and snappy are installed as dynamic libraries, but I don't want to compile under Windows so I'm not sure.

    Patch: patch_linux.diff.txt
    Makefile: Makefile.txt
Differences in output of official Win32 build and my build (proof it works good): diff_result_linux_windows.diff.txt
(it differs only in floating point number representation, expected)

    Usage:
    1. Install protobuf and snappy on your OS (don't just download the source into demoinfo2/ folder!)
    2. Download demoinfo2.zip and extract.
    3. Download the files attached and remove the ".txt" suffix from them.
    4. Copy "Makefile" and "patch_linux.diff" to demoinfo2/ directory.
    5. Run: make patch
    6. Run: make
    7. (if you don't have CLANG compiler error will be shown; then run): make CXX=g++
    8. Profit

EDIT: Now Makefile downloads new .proto files from here to avoid runtime errors due to changes to demo format.
