  • In-Client Tournament and Replay UI related suggestions

    Hey devs,

Great work on the game so far. I'm not sure which sub-forum to place the following suggestions/tweaks so I chose the most tangentially relevant one.

One of the thing that I have found bothering me is being unable to really tell when tournaments run from inside the DotA 2 client, forcing me and my mates to look to other, third party sources for the information. This is just plain inconvenient. I have bought 2 separate tournament passes, just as the grand finals of those tournaments were airing without my knowledge that they were the final games. While I do appreciate that I can watch the replays of most if not all of the previous games, it doesn't have quite the same appeal as a live game (which I am sure that you all understand). Being able to see the commencement and completion dates of the tournaments in the client would be extremely convenient, and it can be updated by the conveners or commentators of the tournament.

I am from Australia so finding tournament games that run at or around a reasonable viewing time for me highly influences my decision to purchase the various tournament passes. Having some form of indication of when matches run or when they are scheduled to run at least would be nice and would make choosing passes significantly easier.

The final suggestion from me would fit squarely into the replay category but more towards the replay section of the client display and not the replay system in general. Would it be possible to show the time that a match went for before having to click the "Reveal Winner" button? I honestly would prefer to know how long a game goes for without finding out who won just so that I can keep track of how long I spend watching games. Viewers are unable to see team composition on the initial screen so length of game doesn't reveal too much.

If there is a more relevant section that this should be in, by all means move it.

    Thanks all,
    Auralise

Another thing along the same lines that might be worth considering is putting "owned" markers on the tournaments that an account has access to!

Another suggestion to add here, this sits somewhere between replays and live games. I would love to be able to see the broadcasters of the match as well as the players
