I came here with the intention of suggesting something similar, so I'm just posting to show my support.

It's on their to do list and has been for a long time. It's just not high priority enough yet.

You can find your replays in the (typically) C:\Program Files(x86)\Steam\steamapps\dota 2 beta\dota\replays folder. Manually name them if you want to know which matches they are. If you type playdemo replays\fileName (ex. playdemo replays\129055005) in the console it will start the replay. Alternatively, you could type dota_match_details matchId into the console to open the match overview screen.

I'm not sure when Valve plans on implementing better support for saved replays but I've been working on a solution and will likely have something available publicly soon(tm).

If I am not mistaken when you download a replay it is stored permanently under a folder and you might be able to play specific ones using console commands for now at the very least.

They need to give players a replay queu. I've downloaded games I've played to analyze later, and when I go back, I can't remember which game it was. If there was a place that saved things you wanted to replay, and it would download the next replay on your queu whenever you watch a replay, that'd be awesome.

Furthermore, I want to have a collection of replays of my favorite games, rather than just losing them in the mass of games played. To be able to save replays locally, permanently would be nice. I may be wrong, but it seems to me that the replay eventually deletes itself.

at the very least, any game that you've a downloaded replay for should have a check mark next to it

Dota 2 needs a replay manager

Right now trying to collect replays and watch them is a nightmare. You have to go to the Tournaments tab, find the specific game from the specific match you want to watch the replay, wait for the game page to load and click to Download. Then you have to repeat this process if you want to watch the replay again some time after.

I wanted to collect every game from the International in order to learn how to play better and it was a mess. I had to click in each game of every match, download them and I could never remember which replays I had downloaded and which I hadn't. This completely turned me off of buying other tournament passes with the goal of learning and improving my game.

My suggestion is that every replay you download is organised in a single page and every tournament has an easy access link to download replays from a whole match and from the whole tournament. There should be quick links from the brackets themselves, you shouldn't have to manually enter every game to download and watch.
