  • [Idea] Team Replay Analysis

I posted this on Reddit too, but here's a really cool idea I had and I wanted to know your feedback:

So I play with a few friends pretty consistently and we don't really live anywhere remotely close together. One of the things we've wanted to do is go over replays together to find where we can improve and this is really hard at the moment because we can't all simultaneously watch the replay at the same time. We can't pause or be at the same place within each replay and it's really hard to coordinate.

What I want to suggest is that Valve maybe create or implement like a team replay watching system in Dota 2. In this system, one person could be the primary watcher of the replay while others can join his/her lobby. Then, anyone in the replay can pause and it'd be paused for every person. One person could draw and it could be seen by everyone. I think with this sort of thing implemented, teams who don't have the resources to live near each other or stream their replay on like Twitch could really improve immensely.

I really believe replay analysis is critical to improving Dota play and analyzing replays is so much better when it's not just you, but your whole group of friends watching with you. The best pro teams like Na'vi all spend time analyzing what they could do better on replay together. So what do you guys think? I don't think it would be too hard to implement. It'd be like a private lobby game, but instead, a private replay game. Thanks and I'd like your feedback!
