  • Dear Valve can we have dummy games for TI3?

    The matches come at not the most pleasant times for me so I will resort to watching replays a lot. But when 2 games are played of a best of 3 I already know that whoever wins the first game will win the 2nd game.
    Same for 3 games. You know both teams will 1 game for sure making the first 2 pretty boring.

    Adding dummy games for West/East qualifiers and 'main stage' to make it look 3 games could have been played in all cases would be extremely easy and quick to implement. Seeing as how TI2 last year had dummy games and spoilerbuttons you know its important to people.

    VALVE please make a punishment system that punishes the offenders... not the team. Also ever heard about communication? Try it. It might solve a lot of debates/questions here on the forum.

        frankly, thats your opinion.

        my opinion is that i watch replays just to see how they played the game.

        my point is that valve won't do this just to satisfy the minority who doesnt want to be spoiled.
        if the majority wants this... its sad they watch it not because of the game itself, but because it was spoiled.

          Some people want to have fun aswell besides seeing how they played it. And knowing who will end up being the winner is not fun.
          Seeing that some VOD sites are doing it and Valve used it last year for IT2 shows they understand the value of it. Thats why they don't spoil it when watching sportprograms where they show overviews of the games played in the days/week before.

          Besides that it is an extremely easy thing to implement and not time consuming at all since its only a fake front for a game. You can even have an option for it to turn of off completely if you so please.

            This!
            I'm not really that bothered by spoilers, but it takes away some of the excitement if you've not already seen the game.
            Instead of having a list with all the games, a list of series with a pop-out/drop-down for showing games in the series would be great. Would make it easier to browse the long lists of games in events too.

              Yea that a nice idea too. Makes more room aswell.

              The whole tournament/game selection is pretty crappy anyway since there are a few tournaments on each page but a lot of tournaments overal. And they are placed in a bit of random order? Same with games selection/browsing.
              Problem 1: Selecting a certain game requires clicking perhaps 1 or 2 dozen times untill you are finally at that certain page. Selecting a first/last page and possibly enter a page yourself (like you see in certain forums) would make browsing it all a lot more pleasant.
              Problem 2: When you buy a ticket from an old tournament you already see the last final games on the first page. Which means you already know the last 2 teams and prob some more which end up winning the whole tournament.

              Would be nice to see game buttons so it all shrinks a bit and makes overview a lot easier;
              [IG vs EG] click on it and then you simply see, if BO3, [Game 1] [Game 2] and [Game 3]. Where game 3 can a fake button then.

              [/semi-offtopic]

                @chunkyboy

                I'm not sure how much of a minority it is. The International and many other tournaments are played in a timezone that's completely crazy for all of Asia to watch. The West Qualifiers, for example, start at 23:30 and end around 3:00.

                Being able to watch replays like a delayed version of the tournament isn't something only a handful of people will do, the entirety of China would probably want this for The International West... and western countries might want it for TI3 East.

                      Well east qualifiers starting soon. Gonna be hard/impossible(?) to watch all those games live. Just wish Valve would offer the same experience for the qualifiers as for the rest of the IT...

                          Bump. There have been multiple threads on this before but this is a huge issue that absolutely has to be solved before TI3.

                          And lets be honest, how difficult is this fix: show all best of threes as three games in the replays list.

                          Show a tournament tree and hide results until viewed.

                          This stuff takes ten minutes to put together but improves the viewing experience immeasurably.

                            You can watch it for the game itself and have it not spoiled. How does this affect the people who don't care about spoilers? It doesn't.

                            Not having this feature, affects people who like the suspense in games. When watching a 60 minute game, the anticipation is the best part about these games. Having spoiler free replays affects no one negatively, and helps a lot of people.

                            how can you say it's a minority? What is this based on? There's a shitton of threads on reddit and devs about this.
