The mute system is disgusting. You are indirectly punishing every single DotA 2 player by forcing them to be matched with muted players. This is a team game, and the quality of DotA has only gone down since you have limited team communication. Please, keep the people who break rules separate from those who don't. Put rule breakers in low priority, don't mute them and keep them in the general pool. The "one bad apple spoils the whole bunch" policy is nonsensical and I cannot believe the developers would actually approve of this feature. Valve, accept that it didn't work and remove it. Mute system sucks, if someone is bothering you, you can just click 2 buttons and mute him WITHOUT REPORTING anyone.

Otherwise, reporting players for feeding is totally legit, but some person in valve must check that, see that player has many deaths = reported.

i Play DotA since 7 years and DotA 2 since early beta and yesterday i had a game with 4 friends and 1 stranger. The game was nice and we had a lot of fun. We didnt chat at all because we were in teamspeak. I carried the game with 22-4 or so and my teammate told in allchat to report me for beeing noob lycan picker (i randomed him). They meant it as a joke and also reported me as Joke and after the game i received a 166 hours communty ban. The Mute system is broken as shit. 1 Week mute for not even chatting in the game. I had a few solo queues after and it was a terrible exp. I randomed Doom, wanted to claim bot but couldnt communicate. I cant even Ping more than 3 times. After 3 Pings, my Pings are also muted for am Minute. This all makes no sense for me and its ruining the game hard. As i said 7 Years Dota Experience and i saw nothing destroying the fun of the game more than this mute system. The whole thing have to be reworked.

I agree tottaly to this claim and I think this is awful, when u play DotA you want to talk with the other folks and make solutions to the team fight, but when u do something wrong and the enemy team attacks u when u r farming and u have no wards to see em' and the players that don't know about your mute they report u even it wasn't your fault and u get muted for 1 more week just because u fed without wanting it, many players like to put the fault on their teammates, but there's no game without communication, how can u say to the others players that u need the wards to be protect of ganks?! "We need Wards!" is that it valve? Seriously?! Do u really think that some players r giving a shit about what u want or what u need?!
if u want to mute or ban someone do it right, make something useful like the "tribunal" of LoL if there's one thing that is worth of that game is that the players should decied if the players deservers or not the ban not some random report, if u guys at least saw every ban that u give we would consider it. this is really sad and it's ruining the game of many players that just want to talk without saying bad words to each other.

You're drawing conclusions from very little information. I said that you shouldn't play competitive online games if you're offended by "fuck you." This does not suggest that I think flaming is fine or that the internet wouldn't work without it. Flaming isn't fine at all, but the measures that Valve is taking to prevent it are both uncalled for and poorly thought out, if thought out at all.

Yesterday, i was winning an easy game with SF, I was killing the other team in their base, having some fun...and for having fun the other team just said "WE ALL REPORT YOU FOR STOMPING US AND NOT FINISHING THE GAME"
And yeah, after the game I found out that I have an 168 hours CHAT BAN...WOW....THIS IS OUTRAGEOUS....you get mute just because some retarded kids report you for nothing...GG VALVE

I agree completely, the mute system is horrific. The worst part about it is that Valve is actually making people leave the game (or at least smurf) because the punishment is real world based. So if you don't want to play on a muted account your options are either to stop playing for a week, play a smurf account, or quit dota all together because of this horrible report system. What's worse is that dedicated players are punished the most because by playing more games per day they not only accrue reports faster and get punished with almost 100% certainty after just one day of playing 10+ games, but they also feel the punishment more.

On the other hand, if you're wasting your time typing insults in the chat box and diverting your attention towards making one of your teammates feel shitty instead of staying focused on the game, then maybe competitive online gaming isn't for you either. No matter how you look at it you're gimping yourself and your team doing it which is a bad strategic move.
