Hey bro, I found the solution on reddit. You just have to alter your host file in Windows directory. Have a read here:

    http://www.reddit.com/r/DotA2/commen...ews_and_store/

    127.0.0.1 www.dota2.com
    127.0.0.1 blog.dota2.com

    It works like a charm!

I'm sure they have someone to scan up the feedbacks and put them into a big lists to consider, including this topic. I'm sure they will implement this in future because company like Valve needs to be efficient with resource & money, Dota2.com serving huge unnecessary bandwidth is not efficient spending of resource.

Thanks man! Your suggestion helps me alot! Thank you!!

Anyway, is there any chance valve read this or not? I really hope they cache the page or at least make it as an option to turn on or off.

My case was, I have 2 Megabits of shared internet connection. So I have to limit my pc bandwidth before opening Dota 2 otherwise my already in-game brother would've been lagged out because the game download the front page stuffs. As you know, 2Mb connection would roughly gave you 250+-Kbps maximum download speed, I'm using Netlimiter Pro to limit my Dota 2 bandwidth to just 60kbps, just imagine using that kinda speed to load the game. It would take ages! I tried to limit the bandwidth to 100kbps and my in-game brother will experienced spikes. So for his sakes, 60kbps would be fine for me.

Now here comes the sad part, I'm in the game and suddenly the game crashes which mean I have to reconnect to be back in the game. And the game loads the front pages all together again (with 60kbps capped speed). Without waiting I just click on Play-Reconnect, and sometimes it took more than 5 minutes to be successfully connected to the game. I'm sure nobody willing to pause the game and wait for me for 5 freaking minutes. So in the end, I lost my in-game gold and exp because my hero just stood at the base.

    The end.
I feel you man. Meanwhile, you can try this: everytime you open dota 2, first thing to do is to stop the load of these pages: Today, Store, and Library. Use the mini x button on top right of each pages (near the reload button). For Library, you might need to hit the reload button 1st then stop the loading. It should save you some bandwidth.

Thanks. I often alt-tab to my firefox so letting Dota 2 download stuff I don't need would cripple my internet browsing, so I gotta stop the load of the pages: Today, Store, Library.

This is an amazing suggestion. Dota2 already takes 7GB on my hard disk, most of it is poorly-optimized because new updates are simply patched in without getting rid of the older junk. All these crud are probably causing an enormous increase in load times too. Stuff like the hero and item pages could be easily made always-offline. New blog posts and updates could be downloaded and saved onto the HDD...

Settings to Disable Auto-Load on Pages Please

For the sake of efficiency of internet bandwidth usage.

Or at least make Dota 2 does a better job at caching the pages, so they can open faster.

From what I see on Library (everytime I open Dota 2), the game client doesn't seem to cache any single image, and download them from Dota2.com everytime. Well if you're gonna integrate a browser into a game you better give it a decent caching mechanism as well, right?

Plus, Dota2.com is probably suffering from serving pages to 4M game clients every month, when most of the pages loaded are not really used by players. I'm sure that's not an efficiency Valve had in mind.

I'd prefer to have settings to disable the auto load, and a button to manually load a specific page when I need. That would be nice
