  • [Suggestion] Region filter and/or labels for games to watch

Here is a picture to help with my explanation.

We still have Wraith-Night filter up and running, despite no longer having Wraith-Night games available to watch.
There is more effort being poured into the fooling around than actually providing what players want/need.

This is not about wanting to establish a lock-down on players as some people are childishly wishing for, but simply to allow us to watch the games we want to. If you support being able to watch games from your own matchmaking region, please post here and give your approval of this request.

So, in short, this is what the button does, you click on it, and the region(s) you are searching for in your matchmaking settings will be the only types of games shown in the live games pages. Once you click the button again, it is back to normal, every region is displayed. It's very simple to do this way. You don't even need to add new UI, just use the existing Wraith-Night filter button and rename it. It couldn't be any easier.

[Suggestion] Region filter and/or labels for games to watch

I find it very annoying and a general waste of time as a player looking to form a team to be watching games currently in general. In the client at any given time, a majority of the games are from the wrong region. I don't play on those regions, so why would I be interested in befriending those players? I would force them or myself to play with lag if we were to play together. Unless we're keen on traveling across the world at a moment's notice, it's impossible to play together without the lag that would hit one player or the other, no matter what region we played on.

If I want to search for live games or even replays of recent games, I have to rely on time-consuming guesswork and/or investigation to figure out which region the players are playing on. Having labels on all the games or even better, a filter for the list of games would make things so much easier. Without even region labels, who is to say what percentage of the games available to watch are from a certain region, anyway? And without a filter, I would have to sort through the labeled games to find what I want, which is less than ideal, especially since there is now a limited number of games displayed in the client.

I'm not sure if I posted the first thread in the right section. So this is the second thread and in a different section. I also expanded the post and retyped it. I think this is a very important issue that is keeping our region(US West) from understanding itself. I don't understand why we haven't had this even before TI2, but now that TI3 is over, I feel like we are sorely missing this feature more than ever. Being able to spectate in this game is really great, but we need a way to spectate via region. I figured such a thing would come sooner or later, but it still hasn't come and I'm getting very impatient and frustrated.

The International Tournament itself was held in our locality 2 years in a row, and we still don't have a professional team? And why not? Because the pro servers were US East and European back in the old days. Now we got these great servers to play on, but we can't watch each other play as every time we click on 'Watch' we're seeing the latest 'pro' moves from Russians, Australians, Chinese, New York people and so on and so forth. I can guarantee we would have had a US West team at TI3 if you just had made this feature before TI2.

I will mercilessly add to my ignore list anyone that makes an incredibly annoying signature.

You are probably the only person who tries to get "friends" by watching random games.

How about just playing and adding those who were nice in your games? This way you could make sure they were playing on the same region, and they are similar in skill to you.

Insufficient. The matchmaking puts worse players on my team the better I get. And there is sometimes a good opponent on the enemy team, but hard feelings I guess make him not accept the friend request almost every time.

This. Has been asked for sometime now. This is promotes "scene building". A lot of, brazillians, for example, know more about some random new korean team that is going to face Alliance than their own national teams (myself included). And as much as I try to prestige national tournaments, the disconnect is detrimental. One can randomly watch iG pubbing all the time in top live matches, but I can never see where the "br pubstars" are.

Not going to browse hundrends of different forums to get some idea. Now, imagine a player who could get allured to this but don't even know where to start.
I'm sorry Valve, but the only way I know how to coach players is with tough love.

We all play for fun, try hards are just WAY BETTER than you. Read this.

This is a pretty cool suggestion, never noticed it before. Won't help everyone, but shouldn't be too difficult to implement, why not?

Perhaps you meant, "Won't please everyone" since it clearly will help everyone since it will improve the competitive scene and that will indirectly help everyone.
