  • Suggestion - Region selection

    Hey there dudes!

I was thinking the current region selection is a bit limited. Seeing as Dota 2 will be getting much bigger, I would suggest instead of splitting the regions as they are currently split, put in a 3D "world" where users could select their region(s) on a version of the world, where it could spin around and stuff Just an idea, as I'm sure i'm not the only person who would like to choose a more precise region(south africa in my case) for matchmaking. It would solve the russian problem too

To me language should be the primary determiner, then location after that.
Please read Common Discussions, Common Suggestions, Common Technical Issues, Common Bugs, and do a website search prior to making any new thread.
Use the report () button to report flaming, illegal discussions, offensive content, excessive spam, trolling, advertising, or duplicate threads

Agree with slowreflex, if language would impede our game, it would become a bad game ): I've lost count of games which lacked teamwork thanks to the language barrier..

Well I suppose automatically keeping you in your own region's servers might be a good remedy, however that would mean that every region would need a server which is probably why that doesn't happen. And if valve sorted them by language then english speaking people in distant countries would have connection problems, but that would be easier to do. It really depends upon the developers, because a lot of things must factor into this, but what I can tell you is that it's getting to the point where a game with 4 other people who simply speak the same language as I do has become a rarity.

Also, on a related note, I've been searching the forum for the thread about whether russia should have its own servers or not, since every thread relating to it says we don't need another one. I can't seem to find it...
