  • Worst design decision ever.

Not having: Find Match on the start page.

For the obvious reason that one click to many is a disaster that everyone know. Someone is bleeding from their brain with this mistake and I of cause already assume that you are going to switch it bad.
Most people, play one type of mode and will never ever really need all these options.

And while you are at it, make an option to invite all your friends in one click and an option to have it select specific people.

    [INVITE ALL FRIENDS] <- Botton
These people are sent an invite when you click the invite all friends.
    [x]Friend #1
    [x]Friend #2
    [x]Friend #3
    [x]Friend #4
    [x]Friend #5
    [x]Friend #6
    [ ]Friend #7
    [x]Friend #8

Its not start page, its today page. It shouldn't have play button while we have separate play page.

And you dont have to change settings before starting to search game. They are saved.

Disagreeing with the layout/setting suggestions also.

An option for the player to select the default starting tab (play vs. today... I would probably like to start with 'watch') isn't a bad idea.

"Invite all friends" / "Invite a preselected pool of friends" concepts are solid.

Starting with "today page" is a good idea imo, as I wouldn't check it every time i connect, but find it interesting when there are updates I would have missed if it wasn't the first page displayed.

The problem you pointed (that is : no "play" button accessible right after launching the game), is a great problem indeed, I launch the game : I play. If it starts to be slower or more tricky to play, I'll start to wonder if I got time, and as I am lazy, I'll shut down my computer and eat cereals.

Therefore I am for a "Quick play/{and spec ?}" button accessible right after having lauched the game

TL;DR - I'm lazy, your decision is therefore the worst ever.

The reason the today page is such a good design idea is because newbies playing the game for the first time are encouraged to have a read instead of just clicking the play button. Meanwhile for more experienced players it lets you catch up with any significant updates which will slightly effect how you play the game.

Ugh. -1 to the encouragement of invite spammers. Since you have such an aversion to buttons you may wish to reconsider playing Dota on those days, since you have a lot more to click in the actual game.

I, for one, welcome our new Russian overlords.
