  • Not fond of the new approach for the female portaits on the learn tab

While the bulk of this stems from personal preference more than anything else (I find large breasts to be disgusting, preferring flat chests), it feels like the game has steadily progressed further in trying to showcase that not only do the female characters have breasts, they love to show them off. I'm sure this isn't an issue for a large majority of the player base but, having seen other games not having this trend questioned and spiral downwards because of it, I'd rather not see Dota2 follow this path, especially once it completely exits being tied to DOTA's heroes and brand new ones start being made.

Who else is concerned regarding this?

Discussion of personal cleavage preferences aside, I do think that there are some real problems with the new hero portraits. Take a look at this, for example:

Windrunner's portrait has clearly been zoomed out to cram her boobs into the shot, and looks much worse for it. The old portrait was really distinctive on account of the huge green scarf, and this just doesn't have the same visual impact. Her cleavage also distracts from the more important and visually distinctive parts of her hero design, her red hair and her green scarf.

Every female hero shouldn't need massive cleavage in their hero portrait. That's just silly. Give it to some who it's in-character for, like Lina and QoP, but not everybody.

That's what I took away from it, yeah.

It's all well and good used sparingly, and as I've observed it's actually an important part of the character for heroes like Queen of Pain, but I think prominently displaying cleavage in the portraits comes across as rather crass when you do it across the board to pretty much every female hero.

In addition to that, it takes away from the visual distinctiveness of each hero; you're not looking at WR's red hair or scarf anymore, you're looking at her boobs. As someone who really likes the art direction of a lot of the female heroes in this game, I find that kinda objectionable.

As much as I love to se her tits(<3 Redheads), I kinda have to agree here, Windrunner shouldn't have a huge cleavage...she is more like a boy scout Also boobs in dota2 look kinda bad because of graphics, so I'd return to the old style. But yeah, QoP and few others should definetly have huge boobs.

WR is not a BIG BOOBS LADY. Think about all the AERODYNAMICS in windrun ^_^

There's also the matter that they are distracting because, for whatever reason, they are far shinier than the rest of the portrait; it catches your eye by default.

It distracts from the actually interesting design aesthetics, and that's no good.

Most of the old beta heroes need improved textures (they've been working on it) chances are if you guys push hard enough they will remove WR's cleavage in her new texture.

It'd be a nice touch now that character models aren't as limited as they were in WC3, where they likely gave every female model a huge rack to help distinguish it from male ones if you were zoomed out. Perhaps Lina can look more like Lina Inverse now, since if there was one thing she was known for, it certainly was not a large bust. Laguna to Ragna would also be a welcomed change as well.

While I am a fan of boobs, I tend to agree. Not all female humanoids needs big boobs, and not all of those need to show cleavage. I think some of the lore of the hero could play into here as well. As mentioned above, WR is a "boyscout" and has aerodynamics to consider... Leave us a big boobed QoP and Lina, and for the love of god keep letting Mirana jiggle when she leaps, but it doesn't need to be this way for everyone.

Why i love boobs as much as the next guys her proportions look out of wack.

It looks like she was stretched and her cloak makes her look like her boobs are dropped/sagging down in a weird way (really complaining about the size of boobs really the internet does complain about everything).

Her zoomed out portrait showing her boobs doesn't look good at all. It's like someone in Valve "was feeling smart" and thought: "Hey, let's show demmm boobs! teenagers love boobsiesss, it's gonna catch therrr attentionz!!!"

I always thought that WR had a pretty good portrait, it was very aesthetically pleasing and was focused on her main aspects. Now it's like "oh look, generic booby redhead girl".

                          I hope Valve changes that.

                            1. Windrunner doesn't have big boobs in this picture, obviously she is wearing a binder to squish what breasts she does have up and securely in place. Thus the accentuated cleavage look. This makes moving around a lot quicker/easier and helps her become more "aerodynamic". Even small breasts move around A LOT on quick movements.

                            2. It's not that the portaits are zoomed out out just for the breasts. The protraits have a new aspect ratio that gives more height, this is on all the heroes. If you'll take a second to look, you'll see that you still see the same amount of her width-wise.

                            3. If you look at her in-game character model, it proves this even more, they are tiny breasts, but are being squished up by her tight clothing to give a sharp cleavage line. So again, not big breasts, just very squished breasts.

                            4. It's fine, they can't cater to everyone. This isn't going to be the downfall of the game to show a little cleavage, lol.

Pretty much tits.. err, I mean this.
They didn't intended to show them breasts. It just so happened since the size of the card has a different ratio from the old portraits, hence it shows a little more of her lower body.
