  • This looks more like Starcraft 2 dashboard, which is bad

The old dashboard was so good. It was clean and simple and made efficient use of the space.

    1. The news headlines makes up the Today section, with big nice images that you can click on to go to the website to read the news. I shouldn't have the web in the game unless I want to.

    2. Divisions of each section (Play, Watch, Learn) made it SUPER EASY to navigate. Also, the organization of each section was really easy on the eye.

2a. The sound that plays when you hover over the section tabs is awful. The sound that plays when you click on it is MORE AWFUL.

    3. Chat, Profile, and Friends that make up the bottom and are consistently there is good. Now, it's on the side? I don't know if anyone's eyes are like this, but mine go horizontally, not vertically. The old dashboard had nice horizontal divisions that allowed easy navigation.

    4. The background is awful. Purple?

GIVE US BACK THE OLD DASHBOARD. DON'T EVEN TRY TO TWEAK THIS AWFUL UI. JUST REVERT IT.

But in Starcraft it was at least somewhat pleasant to look at, which is not the case in Dota 2.

Exactly, I'm loving the new design too. You guys DO realize that those section divisions (Play, Watch, Learn, etc.) are displayed very prominently at the top, right?

            1) Is it that big of a deal, plus also it removes the wasted space the old Dashboard had.

            2) It's the exact same as the old UI, just a little smaller to allow more room in the space. And the sounds? Really? The Dashboard sounds were horrible in the old UI, hearing TINK TINK TINK CLONK CLONK every time I mouse over a tab or click something. The sound is more subtle, and barely noticeable.

            3) Not accepting change. It's really only vertical, and a lot easier to see who's playing and whatnot. You really don't need a chat room stretching across the whole screen.

            4) What's more pleasing to the eye, two colors that completely stand out (Grey and blue), or the Purple and red of which contrast perfectly. The background might not look good, but the purple is perfect.

The dashboard had no wasted space. It sure as hell does now.

The sounds are awful and don't fit with the aesthetic. Subtlety and annoyance are borderline, and in this case obvious. They're unsatisfying as shit, too.

'Change' doesn't equal to 'good', if you want that then Ron Paul campaigns and ect are that way ========>
With that said, it isn't easier to see. Every RTS has it on the bottom for a reason - it doesn't interfere with any menu's and is easier on the eyes. It's tried and true, why break it like this?

The old interface color aesthetic was pleasing to the eye and well put. Nothing jumped out at you like it does now. What needed to be seen was plain and obvious, not clustered in a swirl of pink and endless, pointless lime contrasts.

There's no reason for this shit. Seriously.

The old dahsboard had no wasted space, everything you needed was nicely presented to you. If you really wanted to you could say that the old picture directing to news was wasted space however It was good looking and didnt take half the screen unlike the ugly blog page that fills 3/5 of the page right now.

The old sounds fitted with the art and design of the game, the big stone drums were perfecect and the PLOOOP, PLOOOP does not fit anywhere.

I do agree that its easier to see who is playing and the party design is better, but that should stay in the bottom of the screen where it is very subtle.

I do not remember the old dashboard having any blue in it, but if it did it would have been MUCH better than the dazzle pink.

it's extremely terrible. Do you really want to copy SC2 dashboard? I'm sure you can invent something just by yourselves... That SC2 copy looks really, really bad, like an amateur work.

the old dashboard was so much better, simpler, FASTER and well thought out.

No reason for me to argue against any of those points except for the one quoted above. There is no wasted space. Try running Dota on a 4:3 resolution. Nothing wasted at all. Run it on a 16:9, you have two great big areas that are useless. Why? Because not everyone has the same shit, and we have to still compensate for everyone running at 1024x768. The only wasted space I see in this Dashboard is in between the top bar and the boxes, and in between the social and game area. That's it. We can't use the left and right sides of a 16:9 monitor as it won't work on 4:3 resolutions.

The only similarity the SCII Dashboard and the Dota 2 dashboard have is the left and right sides being unused. Once again read above. Not everyone has widescreen monitors. And compared to the SCII dashboard, this makes full use of every square inch while making it still legit, not like SCII where there is just a huge photo for the main menu.

really? because to me it looks like it was made by a 6 years old kiddo and an exact copy of sc2 dashboard. the graphics is really, really bad the guy that made it is not a graphic designer for sure.

and what was the point of shrinking the chat window to that extremely small size? it's just stupid now.

                            well,

why not showing how many matches we lose in the dashboard?

i do wish that we can see how much on the people lose instead of only how many matches of the people won only

                            just imagine,

                            during the game,

is it fair that only showing how much of the poeple kills and assists without how much of the people feed?

                            that is my opinion only.

                            i do hope that,

we can see how many matches of the player wins and losses in the dashboard,

it is also the motivation of us to play more to get better results than our friends,

                            best regards

                              Horizontal > vertical

That's all i'm going to say.
