  • Dashboard icons are TINY!

What happened, guys? I wanted to try and spectate a game with Spectre today, but the icons are so small, it's really hard to see what heroes are being played... My res is not that big (1366x768) but my boyfriend's computer (1280x1024) has the same issue.

Not only the hero icons, but all the text and buttons seem to be suddenly so small! Also, is it just my imagination, or there used to be a "sort" option on the Watch tab?

But yeah, why are the icons so darned small now? There's plenty of empty space around, let's try to make use of it!

    I totally agree with this.

Valve, when designing your dashboard, please borrow from the guidelines of website design.

Always configure hero icons to have a minimum real world size limit. It comes to a point where they are no longer readable. If you do not remember what the hero portrait looks like, you will have no idea what you're looking at when searching for a live match for a hero you want to spectate. You might as well remove the icon and replace it with the hero name.

Your interface also has a lot of space dedicated to the faction icon be it Dire or Radiant. Everyone knows that the Dire is to the right with a red theme and the Radiant is on the left with a bright green theme. You need to budget your space and dedicate it to the more important information that people find more valuable.

Player names, hero names, and hero icons. We don't mind if one page only allows fewer matches displayed. We do not want to read a newspaper in our dashboard. This brings me to a second point.

Limit the minimum real world size of your fonts. We know that Dota 2 is meant to be played on a desktop PC. What you need to consider is that some people do not have 20/20 vision and may sometimes choose to play without eyeglasses. I'm not talking about those who wear Coke bottles for glasses. I'm talking about people who can function well without their glasses but would have to use them when they have to read the newspaper.

Just go with what internet browsers default to. That's a good minimum font size for the dashboard.
