  • [Suggestion + Poll] Do we want our losses back?

    Hi everyone,

Recently losses disappeared on our screen. Some have said GREAT! Others HELL NO!

So I will try to weight Pros/Cons mentioned by the community:

Do we want our losses back! YES SIR!

    - Hiding information means Communism!
    - Can be used to "measure" your skills (i.e. improvements)
    - Kills the game community
    - Encourages people to "throw/ruin" a game
    - Innate thrill & will to win
    - No pain no gain
    - Overtime will make people not care about games
    - Will ruin the competition level
    - Boost motivation

Do we want our losses back! NOT AT ALL!

    - Quells a lot of the "e-peen"
    - It gives you low-self esteem
    - W/L ratio is NOT a proper way to measure one's gameplay
    - Players have a tendency to be depressed
    - Previous games such as HoN were good examples why W/L should not be displayed
    - Makes a dota game more relaxed with a stress free environment
    - Players have a tendency to rage/cry less
    - Play the game for fun
    - Pressure players (How loss stat puts on players)
    - Kills motivation

I really can't fathom why they think this is a good idea. The DotA community has always been fairly competitive, and people don't play just to dick around. This isn't TF2 where you just leave wherever you want and not care about the outcome of the game, just doing whatever the fuck you feel like whenever you feel like it. I want to get better at the game, and I want to measure that progress with actual numbers, not just a vague self-assessment, which would still require me laboring over replays to get basic numbers that could easily be available to me (and previously were).

Honestly, I've always loved you Valve, but with DotA 2, you've just been pissing me off time and time again. You remove our ability to see W/L for individual heroes (which I assumed at the time was due to it clashing with the new performance bars due to its location, but with this change and with not having put them back or relocated them, I'm not so sure anymore). You fuck up the hero picker with that completely inconvenient card slider (setting aside the fact that the card system itself is awful). Now you deprive me of even the most basic stat-tracking with a simple overall W:L ratio? What the fuck? You aren't adopting the DotA community. You're trying to cash in on it and are slowly raping the tools that encourage competitive play so that the game appeals more to the casual audience you have with TF2. I've never been so fucking disappointed. You guys have always handled things pretty well and done good by the community, but I'm losing faith in you very quickly. This is really just absolutely fucking ridiculous.

Dude - just freaking relax. And watch your language! Valve is DOING Fantastic. They are listening to us - so no need to be rude. W/L are back now - it was just a bug. Although you are disapproving with card slider, there actually are a lot of people who enjoy the new dashboard system (see threads).

If you are losing faith - I would suggest you to find another game.
