  • Loading screen is boring.

There is no doubt about it. It's THE ICON. Bam. That's it. wtf?

So how about we modify it a bit?

    Matchmaking Loading Screen
We could take a page out of SC2's book and put the name of each player in the screen, as well as a loading bar for each of them.

Also, since it's the MM screen, add a global map in the middle like the one when you queue, and highlight the server the game is being played on. This would not only be aesthetically good, it would be USEFUL. For me, knowing if I'm on US East, US West or South American server is very important, and not everyone can know that just out of the '-ping' command.

Also, add the game mode to the screen.

    Lobby Loading Screen
Simply put, the same as the MM loading screen, except with something indicating it's a private lobby, and if spectators are enabled/disabled as well as "broadcasters" loading time and such.

    Tournament/Team Loading Screens
All players and their load time, as well as a Team Icon indicating who is who. I believe the "map" showing the server would be quite useless here, so the space for that could be used for team icons.

Of course, broadcasters are also included into this, like on the lobby load screen.

    CO-OP MM screen
Like the normal MM screen, add the world map with the server as well as the five players loading time and such. Also add bot difficulty. Simple stuff.

    Why is this being suggested?
    1. Because the loading screen is terrible atm
    2. Because I want to know how long will it take until we are ready
    3. Because, when queuing more than one game mode and more than one server, there is no way to know which you will get. Game mode isn't as important, but the server thing is a problem IMO.

idk what else could be added to it. thoughts? Maybe a "hints" sentence?

I too like the SC2's loading screen where you can see each other's name. It doesn't matter if they keep the old background, but I feel like it's unfair to those who have faster PC's to know their opponents first compared to those whom just loaded their game.

That's all I really care about: who I'm with and who am I against.

Interesting idea, I like it. There's no harm putting more information into the loadingscreen if it's done correctly and an extended loadingscreen won't slow down loading.

The mode and server informations would be very useful.

Also showing the names of the participants gives a personal note to the match, especially for newcomers, I always try to think how someone who has never played DOTA or other titles of this genre experiences the game and a good looking loadingscreen that includes your name gives a personal touch, so I think it would be a nice feature.
