  • Reconnect

So this just happened to me:

I'm in a game. I get disconnected. It happens.

I try to reconnect, the game says something about me having to be in a game lobby to host a game or something. Obviously just a bug because I'm probably trying to reconnect too early. So naturally I want to close DOTA2, restart it in hopes that it will grasp the situation (that I've disconnected) faster. I close DOTA2, open it back up- the reconnect screen is gone and I have apparently abandoned the game.

If I ALT+F4 DOTA2 closed, I will stay connected to the game. BUT: If I close DOTA2 manually inside the Dashboard, it ABANDONS the GAME? WHY?

I'm not going to deny that a message pops up that says "Leaving a game can ruin it for your team, blah blah etc." when you hit the close button, but DOTA2 always asks for confirmation when you close it, so by the time I glanced over the text I had already clicked "close", because I'm so used to the game asking me if I'm sure I want to quit.

So while it's partially my own fault for closing DOTA2 and I realize this, why on earth does DOTA2 make it so you can't reconnect to the game once you've closed it? Hell, even with the abandonment, I still want to reconnect to the game and win it.

In the hypothetical situation in which I start up DOTA2, join a game, and I discover I have a graphical issue, there is no way to restart DOTA2 without ending the process. If I disconnect and close DOTA2 I'm apparently abandoning the entire match for some reason.
