  • [Suggestion] Default Game Mode -> Only All Pick

To save new players from learning the hard way, the default mode should be all-pick or at least for those who have no games played (if it is possible to have different default settings depending on the account's experience.)

I have non-Dota gamer friends who have no idea about different game modes and just play the game to get to know it. Some have complained that they suddenly found themselves forced to use a hero they don't know, sometimes in a game where no one new their hero, and had a horrible experience.

Since those who play the game more, will know or learn about more game modes, it makes sense to have it set to All Pick. =)
    Personal Blog (Just for fun!):

Would love to talk about DotA and DOTA 2 on my Facebook and Twitter too!

I would argue that all pick actually lets other people pick really good combos and picks. This is going to become a problem when the game goes live, as smurf accounts are going to wreck havoc on the new player population. The same thing happened in HoN, and when I started out I stayed away from all pick like the plague. It forced me to learn new heroes in single draft or at least limited the pool for smurfing players to pick pubstomp combos.

Let's look at it in another way.
They are beginners, so pretty much they don't know how to play any hero well. How will 'ap' help them in that case? Getting a random hero in sd may actually save them from people who learned to play some pubstomp hero, so in the 'weakest' levels sd may lead to more balanced games, than ap (oh, most of that mentioned in post above :/). And of course, trying new heroes...
