  • Damage Text is needless difficult to parse.

    Damage text in the game is in a pretty awkward state where it sometimes makes an appearance if certain conditions are met, but aside from that, the text itself is rather difficult to parse, or at least more difficult than it needs to be. A pretty key element to any RTS is being able to glance at the screen and take in the game state in a small amount of time. Changes to said state also are very important to be able to see, and damage text is one way that changes present themselves. As it stands right now, the damage text uses a tall font that often has poor contrast to the rest of the environment. The fact that the text grows and shrinks does it no favors either. If the text changes shape, it's significantly more difficult to pick out the a common shape for the numbers, making it needlessly challenging to parse when a lot of information is presented to you at once.

    I would like to think there is room for improvement in how damage text is displayed (as well as when it's displayed, but that's another topic). Offering a static, high-contrast, easy to read font would likely be ideal.
