So I have a little problem with where the colours in the top stat bar are located at the moment (right above the hero portraits). Not only are they at the very edge of the screen, but are so thin that they are very hard to see, rendering the colours difficult to make out. I find myself squinting a lot. My suggestion is to move the colours below the character portraits, while at the same time making them slightly thicker.
I also propose converting the colour indicators into health bars for your team only.
Below are photoshop mock-ups with some explanation.

Moved colour lines.
Changed gradient on colour lines.
Converted them into health bars.

Moved colour lines.
Changed gradient on colour lines.
Darkened colour lines for dead heroes.
Coloured ult indicator red for dead heroes whose ult is available.

Moved colour lines.
Changed gradient on colour lines.
(Non-health bar/greyed out dead version).
My reasoning for not including a mana bar in this idea/suggestion: I feel that it would clutter the top more so than need be. Health is an important thing to know about your team mates and is the only factor to determine if someone is on the brink of life or death. Mana does not do this. I see that Earthshaker is low on health and try to help them. I can asses the situation if he is at moderate health by clicking on his location in the minimap or on the hero portrait at the top. When they become focused on my screen, I can see the situation he is in, his health bar and mana will be displayed above him.
