  • 16:9 resolution gives unfair advantage during hero selection

I'll let these screenshots speak for themselves

    16:9

    16:10

I only call it "unfair" because I now feel forced to play 16:9 window mode so that I can take a look at my team's "most successful heroes" or what items they bought on the last support hero they played, or their steam reputation, etc... which could (arguably) help me make better pre-game decisions.

Reasoning aside though, I simply am unable to access this interface feature when playing at a 16:10 resolution, but can when at 16:9.

Is there a way to invoke a "dota profile" by name via the console maybe for the time being? I checked all added console commands in the last few months but none seemed to be related. Noticed there is one now for "dota_match_details" though which is nice.

      lmao, seriously ??

It shows the 3 heroes your "supposedly" best with. On mine I have a hero I have only played once. So you scrutinize your pub team before the game even starts? I bet your a joy in game, if someone buys an item on a hero you do not agree with.

Join a league man, do some scrimms.

The Acorn helmet is actually VERY fitting since it's natural shape is used. Also it is used for it's quality to withstand blows.
      Wow, amazing insight.

It's not 1999 anymore... 4:3 has been dead since 2005, I think it's time for you to spend the $160 for a modern monitor/TV

You could have at least read the post before replying. He's comparing 16:9 and 16:10, both "modern" resolutions.

As far as the issue, they could just move the UI around a bit so everyone can check "best heroes."

Update: Turns out you CAN get to dota profiles from 16:10 if you click here on each name >_<

apparently he needs the info to tell people what to do...

But seriously now...that must be the most unimportant "issue" in the beta and it is in fact so minor IMO that I woudn't care if it was never "fixed".

plus i thought the reason these forums were here was for people like me find unimportant minor issues and report them so that the dev's don't have to themselves...

anyway like i said, it sort of works at both aspect ratios but only before they pick a hero. Im sure other people will complain in the future though so that is why I am reporting it.

if you dont have something constructive to say would you mind just fucking off?

Some people don't get Beta, Bluechipps. I don't know if this is an advantage or not. IMO they should do away with it in general. My opinion is that someone will look at some of their team mates and see they only have X wins and then just leave for not being experienced enough.
                    This ain't ova.

I should have worded differently. Title should read "Unable to access feature when running at 16:10"
