Another HUD design.

  • Another HUD design.

    Many people click to add skills, so the skills should be above the hp/mana indicators. Besides, there are already hp/mana indicators above your hero. The exp bar is also vertical and nearer to everything else now, so you don't need to look further to see what you need. It also removes the weird popping out of hero portrait and makes it flush so there's equal clicking space at that area. The current adding system is too subtle and requires two clicks, I still think the plus signs are more efficient.

    Don't like the HP and MP bars at the bottom of HUD (since there is more sense that they are on the top of it so you can see your HP/MP without looking at it directly, and you don't always have your hero on the screen, so you can't look at HP/MP bars above the hero at any time), and the "plus" buttons can sometimes be annoying (for example you get level up in battle and occasionally press at it by fast-clicking instead of giving a move order like you wanted).
    +This is 100% LoL style without any changes, so don't like it=) Good try still)

      Yes, I did look at that before doing this, because I didn't like that one. The problem is that looking is much easier than moving your mouse down to click, so the skills should be above. We train to be aware of the minimap and the map at the same time, those huge hp/mana bars are nothing. I know there are hotkeys to add skills but still. I didn't notice its almost exactly like LoL's but that's not even the issue. There can only be so few ways to position the HUD, and the main point of my design is to make the hud flush and make the skills nearer, and easier to click.

        Just goes to show that the only thing worth changing on the current HUD is the size, because the design is very well done.

          Being aware of your HP/MP is more important than lvl-uping the skill. Even now I use my keys to lvl-up (for example G + Q levels up my 1st skill, and etc.) Yes, map awareness is important, that's why we need it instead of looking down at my HP every time=) You can't always see your hero, here are some examples: you are looking who to sunstrike and get ganked, you are using your AA's ultimate and don't notice that you get too far forward so the creeps attack you. There are ofcourse sounds and minimap of it to make you notice that, but still bars are also important.
          Anyway, keep up the work, hope you'll make something interesting of your idea=)

            Tbh I think neither is more important than the other.

            I just think the hp/mp bars are already so large I will still see it while looking at the minimap regardless of whether its above or below, because its just glancing, and its impossible that you make your eyes see only the top half of the HUD for the hp/mp. And with all that said, you still have the hp/mp bars that you only sometimes do not see. While on the other hand moving your cursor down is another story, its much slower than glancing. Besides, this is really debatable.. is knowing the skill cooldown more important than looking at your hp/mp? both are important. (but then again the icons are so large even if it were below the hp/mp you'd still be able to see it.)

              While i don`t like your actual Lay-Out I got to like the fact that the exp bar look like a thermometer. But if you do it it need little ticks in there since you can`t really fit the numbers in there. (Even though that still creates problems T_T)

              The thing I like about it (except for it looking like a thermometer is the fact that you can fit your portrait right into there without letgting it stand out too far.

                    Hmmm... The new type of HUD looks not bad, but it wouldn't fit all the resolutions, only the highest ones. (that's why they made some intervals between HUD parts)
