  • [Suggestion] Hero Levels on Top Hero Bar

I was thinking about this for awhile, but then when I saw this thread, complaining about the size of the hero level on mouse hover, I realized I should do something about it.

So this is what I'd like to propose:

    Direct Link: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1..._indicator.jpg

This was created quickly in Photoshop just to give an idea of what I think should be done - obviously Valve's art team can work their magic.

I think levels should appear on the top hero bar. There's really no reason not to have it displayed. This information is always available to players via the scoreboard, but this way you don't have to take up a third of your screen to view it. It'll also mean Valve doesn't have to touch the mouse-hover issue addressed in the other thread.

    Thoughts?
I've never played DotA. I don't care how things were done in DotA. This is Dota 2. This is what I care about.

Unnecessary thing. Hero tooltip and scoreboard are enough. There is no reason to overload interface

As I said, the scoreboard takes up a third of your screen, and as others have said, the hero tooltip isn't easily readable. A small level overlay doesn't overload the interface.

I like this. The font should be bigger though. Small font size brought us here in the first place

Yeah, definitely. I just threw this together quickly in Photoshop and didn't spend time experimenting with various font sizes. This was simply to show the concept.

Come from the other thread I think that this is a good idea. Also can easily see everybody level without much effort and no harm done adding this

As for the visual I think you can use the same background around number like they have for the mana in skill (maybe change color)
New to Dota2, never play Dota before| Ok so it's been half a year, still more new thing to learn. The game is awesome. | It's been 3 years, still don't know how to play half of the heroes. The game is the other half of my life now.

Did a quick mock-up using the "mana in skill" label to see how it would look:

Didn't bother changing the value or color, but you get the idea. Size-wise, it fits well at the top, still allowing the hero portraits to be clear and visible, while the number is also clear, not requiring you to squint. Good idea using that for it, as it keeps things consistent.

+1 good idea... the lvls of the enemies would have to get updated everytime they aren't in the FOW (so you need to have vision on them to know their latest lvl)
                        Never played WC3 DotA!!

Good suggestion, but did you take into account how this will impact gameplay?
If not then please reevaluate your suggestion, thanks.
