I'd rather they just focused on making a better HUD for everyone. The majority of the die-hard dota players seem to hate the new rocky texture and sword stats box. These are the fans that you should aim to please, as they make up a huge portion of your player base and they will be the ones who will be less likely to just go with the flow. Casuals aren't as emotionally invested. Bring back the classy texture! DOTA 2 really stood out as the professional MOBA. Don't lose focus.

I also agree with cypherrage. As it seems some people likes the new HUD and some believe it to be hard on the eyes (as do i) the optimal would be to have both choices.

Gone where? O wait, ya that backup of it they have lying around that they can put back into the game whenever they want.

I do pay attention to the HuD, it makes a major impact on gameplay, because its designed to have all pertinent information on it by 'design'.

So.... let me get this straight, you pay more attention to the hud then the game itself?, item locations the same, portraits the same and so is the map...., i like the bigger glyph option+cooldown, cleaning up stats and attack with movement was ok(Movement i see was for the pages of people begging for it). I however would like the stats to go from vertical to horizontal and make the Mana and Hp bars go all the way across to the hero portrait. Honestly tho, they cleaned it up and polished it, I cannot SEE ANYWHERE, where this hud is "cartoony". All I see on this forum so far is a bunch of people crying wanting the old hud and comparing things like facebook timeline and customizations are the future arguments. Well kids im sorry but its GONE, if you would like you can make a facebook page demanding the old hud but lets be honest... and adults and come to terms that things DO CHANGE and that we can go forward and IMPROVE upon our new hud, making posts demanding/wanting to change back to the old hud is not helping our CURRENT hud and is.. im sorry, fail. Flame/Hate me all you want, and don't go saying i speak for a lot of people etc. This is our new hud, i for one really like it and think it is a better improvement over the old one, however the items are somewhat overdone in some cases and those imo need some tuning.

The new UI is implemented for us to test it in-game and discuss on it, so Valve can get feedback and suggestions regarding its design.

Allowing the players to discard it kind of defeats that purpose (at least in this stage).

I agree 100%. The old UI had nothing wrong with it for me. I want the old one back or at least make it an option. We shouldn't be forced to switch to something just because some people thought it needed changed. Not everyone on Facebook was forced to the Timeline. Customization is the new era. I want the old one.

well i think that would be the best solution as well. more than one HUD would be in my opinion the best solution. btw i did only 1 game today= reason cant concentrate because of that lack of space ( like they alrdy said it rly seems that way to me).

While yes I am against the new item coloring theme, that is in another forum. My suggestion was to be able to switch UI's and I wanted to touch on this a little further. I don't think that is unreasonable to offer 2 (or more!) possible ways to arrange your HUD and in game UI all around, whether they make it personally customizable, or simply offer somewhat of a variety of UI's/HUD's where the differences can range from color schemes, general artwork, or even where certain information is displayed and how, possibly (like being personally customizable) toggling certain areas of the HUD/UI on and off and changing the sizes of specific gadgets and displays.

Like I said before, I do not think this is unreasonable. Yes, I know this is a bit more complicated than changing the background on your Google home page (if you can call that customization), but I can't see any negative consequences to implementing this. The people get what the people want (all within what the developers make available, but you get the point).

Also, he hits the nail on the head, the new UI is too crammed. There's a ton of useless information, and they decided to move stats like farm/kda to the bottom right corner. I also don't need to have a courier button or my stats taking up a gigantic portion of the bottom bar.

I would have rather them left it the old way, tweaked some of the rest of the areas like the background (or removed the unnecessary portions) and left the information the way it was.

I also don't like some of the new icons, like mentioned already, they're very dark and kind of overdone. Certain items like Malestrom are very nice, and the items with active auras made so you can tell if they're on/off are a nice touch, but other items don't even look like their older counterpart, which in the long run won't be a huge issue since the game isn't released yet, but I just don't think they're worth changing (aka Mekansm).

Overall, its' not bad, some symmetry issues, a lot of useless information, and some icons still need to be worked on, but I'm glad to see they're branching out finally.

Haha not trying to be sassy, but I was 100% and completely content with the old UI, I never even fathomed it being improved. Maybe some people were having problems that I did not have because of hardware issues or just personal taste, but the old UI just had it all.

The thing (warning: completely opinionated) about making a great UI is:

    1. Not taking up too much space.
    2. Keeping it symmetric (yes this is usually important to players).
    3. Not having distracting icons or texts in the HUD that take the players attention away from the game.
    4. Strategic functionality and information display (I will explain): You might think that having a button for this and a button for that on the UI will make things easier for a gamer, or having this and that information readily displayed for ease of use will come in handy and save you some trouble, but a lot of times all they do is add clutter to the HUD and confuse a player when too much is being thrown in their face at once. When adding things to the HUD, you want to keep the esthetic layout smooth and balanced, while still being able to add to the game experience rather than take away. You can't simply design a box that will display the remaining towers and HP's and throw it wherever you like. You need to consider if it will really be useful, or if it is just another gadget. Also, after this gadget is added, does the HUD still look balanced?

OK, so why did I bring up all this stuff? Because I feel that the developers seriously failed on a lot of these levels. I'm not a game designer, so it is hard for me to simply suggest things that would look great in the game and please millions of people. It is a complicated process and can be hard to find the right sweet spot that pleases everyone. The main thing that I can do is point out what I personally believe is great and not so great, and what made the old better than the new, or the new better than the old. That is the point of feedback, to give your input on someone else's design. Now, suggesting improvements or new designs is a completely different type of feedback. When I suggested having both UI's readily available, I have no high hopes for it going anywhere, it's simply brainstorming, throwing idea's back and forth, and while something like that is simple and easy to suggest, I don't regret saying it because if it was by some chance implemented, I would be overjoyed, because then everyone would be happy.

I personally feel that this new UI isn't better than the old, all it does is look nicer, everything is in different spots, I look for where my kda or CS normally is, its somewhere else, all the little things that you just "know where they are", just aren't there.

I support having the option to go back to the old UI, since I cannot play with this new one, it feels like a completely different game, I also feel like less of the game screen is visible, even though I know its not, but it just feels that way.

Can't stand the new UI, would love to have the old one as an option, would be awesome, since I don't know if I will even play anymore until they do.
