  • Another HUD suggestion

The new HUD has some good and some bad aspects.

I really like the old style which was really sober and decent now it's rocky and kinda strange.
An option to select what theme you want would be really appreciated (I am not talking about reverting the old HUD but have a more clean look at the current one).
The ornamentations fit the theme (Valve did a good job at this) but I personally don't like to see them there.

Another point a lot of people will agree is the Creepstats and Herokills are misplaced in the bottom right corner and should be reverted to the top corner.

And the top bar cuts away some space where you could see more.

To visualize my thoughts with MS Paint:

They can't, and should never, trim segments of the top. For a couple reasons:

    1. It's disorienting for a player to have an uneven window to see and click in. FPS's have a fine time having interfaces like that because you don't have to worry about spaces to CLICK in. Dota is a different story.
    2. The screen is rendered/drawn in a rectangular fashion. This means that if they were to render that top area that you are suggesting to cut out, it would have to render that WHOLE top section, even if it won't be seen because of the rest of the top bar covering it. This is a waste of computer resources client-side.

Also, my personal opinion is that it just looks ugly to have gaps small gaps in the HUD like that in a game like Dota2.

      Completely agree with #2
Making the game simpler is not our goal, making the design look simple is a whole new story. Simple look for a complex game.
