    1. Because I want to play Dota, not LoL.
    2. Because I think that it actually takes some skill to play a support, and doing it properly in the middle of a fight requires some awareness of what's going on, and I don't want to remove that challenge.

I do not agree this. I think it will ruin the look of the game and as someone else applied that it looks like LoL..

That doesn't really make any sense since OPs suggestion isn't exlusive to LoL or has anything to do with it. Instead of providing a valid argument you just show how biased you are, you disregard a feature just because another game (a completely different game, by the way) has it. There's no logic behind it, only bias.

You can see when your teammate has his ultimate up because this game is about teamwork, but you can't see when your teammate needs assistance because? Right, because you dislike some other game that happened to display the amount of health your teammates have, how dare they to do this in a game that is about TEAMWORK, wow. You're absolutely right, I should monitor my teammates better, silly me actually thinking about paying attention to my hero.

Now, sorry for my rant, but I'm sick of people making it about LoL. Just because you dislike it doesn't mean that you have to go around and shove it in everyones face.

Also, here's a similar suggestion by squinte except this one doesn't take up extra screen space.

He asked why, I answered. I said I wouldn't mind this as an option, but I don't like it if it is forced up my ass. Also, this would be a buff to Chen. Deal with it.

EDIT: And yes, I am biased. It's hard not to be when I have played DotA for quite some time and see the "skill required" to play a certain role be taken away by unneeded changes.

I think this will change the level of the game exactly like showing the mana bar for the enemy heroes.
The game will be different than dota 1 and we need it to be the same.
So I am going T-down at least for the current stage of the game.

I don't think that it would buff anyone directly or indirectly, you're saying that being able to see the amount of health your teammates have would buff Chen, but what about high level players? What if you have a team of 5 players and they're all on Skype or whatever, they have good communication between each other and are able to call out for Chens heal, is he buffed in that particular situation or maybe he's just used to his full potential? If we're gonna think of it this way, then there's two versions of Chen, a gimped one and a normal one. Funnily enough, the normal one wouldn't be affected by the suggestion, at all.

Now, in my opinion, people think of it the wrong way. They think that would make the game easier, but what exactly would it change to make it "easier"? It wouldn't change any mechanics yet people would start to behave differently in certain situations, and I don't think that different equals easy in this case. It changes the way people communicate with each other in games that have weak teamwork or no teamwork whatsoever (think pubs with a silent team, no mics, no calls, etc), but it doesn't really change anything for people that already communicate with each other.

The suggestion would make the game easier the same way that Skype or voice chat does, it would allow better teamwork. It would allow more inexperienced/lower level players to perform better when playing with strangers (playing in a setting where the teamwork is lacking) while the higher level players would be untouched. It's a no loss situation unless you're biased or hate new players.

Suddenly Chen is picked in every tourney game.

I don't know really. Could both be good and bad. Its a whole new metagame to add.

But he's already picked and banned all the time.

Crucifox, that is not very helpful.
Hey, we are all open to our opinions but I would appreciate if you can elaborate why the idea is stupid.

I do dig his idea but it defies the game visual rules as HP is not in green or red. You will have to track 5 more different colours for HP which can be disorienting in game in a glance. And you won't be able to see player colour once they hit very low HP. Overall, interesting, but different from mine.

Man...Valve will be heartbroken when they see this.
They did so much to improve the experience and you wanted it all be same as wc3 dota....

I could have stayed playing wc3 dota if I wanted the same but dota2 just catches on with me as I play and feels more complete

In tourney games, the players already communicate via voice. If they need a heal, they just shout "need a heal Chen". I personally don't think this would have any significant impact on competitive play.
