  • DOTA 2 SUGGESTION - NEW HUD FEATURE : Map Control Improvement

    In order to improve the map control I`ve added a new feature (Spheres) to the Graphical User Interface which as you will see in the ATTACHED edited IMAGE that I provide, alows all the team players to constantly be aware of the enemy units`s movement on the map , the team will be able to do so, watching the image in the Spheres , this image/s will be provided by diferent sources : sentry wards, observer wards, flying courier ,controled units (NO HEROES) ,spells (Slardar`s ultimate, Zeus`s Ultimate, Bounty Hunter`s Ultimate , Vengeful Spirit`s Wave of Terror, Mirana`s Magic Arrow ,Clockwerk `s Rocket, Windrunner`s Power Shot...etc.)

    Here is more detailed explanation of the Spheres`s features (in the Image) : (EACH NUMBER CORRESPONDS TO THE ONE IN THE IMAGE)

    1 Switches vision between different toggled sources ; wards ,controled units, flying courier , spells (if more than one vision revealing source is avalable this button will alow players to switch between them and select the most convenient one for them, there must be a bindable hotkey for this making it easier and faster to use)

    2 Switches vision from left to right sphere and viceversa

    3 Toggles Observer Wards Vision

    4 Toggles Sentry Wards Vision (ONLY INVISIBLE UNITS will be revealed) (this feature will allow players to be more aware of ganging , revealing for exmple smoked units from the enemy team that are trying to gang the farming cary)

    5 Toggles Flying Courier Vision(I added only Flying courier`s vision because the normal one, won`t be used as a scout since it doesn`t have the necessary amount of speed or health/protection to do so)

    6 Toggles controled Units`s vision (NO HEROES) Helm of Dominator controled units, Ilusions ,Spell Units(hawk, pig,treants,Infernal..etc) and

    Necromotion Units

    7 Toggles vision revealed by spells: (Slardar`s ultimate, Zeus`s Ultimate, Bounty Hunter`s Ultimate , Vengeful Spirit`s Wave of Terror, Mirana`s Magic Arrow ,Clockwerk `s Rocket, Windrunner`s Power Shot...etc.)

    8 Toggles Left/Right Sphere`s vision On/Off

    NOTE: As the new HUD doesn´t have enough space for two spheres, still remains the possibility to use one of them
    Edit: I´m considering the option of the sphere availability being trigered after 1st Roshan kill.

        I think this is entirely unnecessary and negatively affects balance. Additionally, rendering multiple cameras has a significant impact on performance.

        Lastly, you're using the wrong character for apostrophe. It's ' not `.

          exactly why i said no. It is a dumb idea. For one why give players noobified advantages like this when dota is general is about skill. This is a the problem with games nowadays. Shit like this goes into games and they make them to where they are catered to the teeth for you. Get better at map awareness

                Although I like the effort and quality of your design, I don't think this feature would be useful. I don't think, however, that the feature will bring balance issues, since I believe "skill" is way different than other people here are suggesting.

                The reason I think this feature wouldn't be usefull, in my opinion, is because you don't need to have "terrain vision" of something far away at almost no time. The minimap can provide enough information to you. If you already have a ward, you can see in the minimap which heroes pass through the terrain (you can use either the color or icon representation). If you can't select the hero via the sphere, you'll need to move the camera to that spot, so doing exactly the same thing you would do while looking the minimap (let's say you want to see the itens of the hero).

                The real advantages, like see the life of an enemy (or any visual effects) without needing to reposition the camera is a minor thing compared to add another UI element (and a fairly complex one, even when simplified, since you have many options to toggle).

                This is my opinion, but if you could illustrate more benefits of this feature, I would be glad to read.

                  Kudos for the effort, but no, this is superfluous. Even if it wasn't making the game easier, it would be more confusing to use it than it would be beneficial. It's like playing Mario cart on a split screen and watching the opponents screen, it's unnatural and harder.

                      Yes it will increase the usage of consumables like smoke(essential need), observer wards(essential need), and sentry wards as a counter for smoke ganks.
                      I´m considering the option of the sphere availability being trigered after 1st Roshan kill.

                          My goal is to make the game better for everyone and not to add bizarre ideas like making Blink Dagger to work on pudge, nevertheless If the community doesn´t like this concept it shouldn´t be approved.

                            That is tha main reason I made it no having to click on the minimap to see who is coming for you (and don´t forget the Observer ward isnt the only vision source , for example lycan´s wolves can scout while invisible and in case of finding a low health wood farming oponent a busy tinker ( lycan´s ally) can quick see this in the sphere, click on the minimap to teleport with Boots of travel on one of the wolves and pick up a frag ) - you can still do this but will have to watch the wolves and lose a few lasthits meanwhile.
