  • [Suggestion] Attribute Bonus

It only struck me today that there is no visual indicator for when a hero has leveled his/her Attribute Bonus (+2 Stats). Therefore, I suggest a simple indicator which is used for every other spell:

Keep in mind this is a very cheaply made edit, and the squares are only in two rows so they don't look too cluttered.

    (as suggested by 0verp0wer_BR)

Yep, that seems to be a very handy addition. You should probably rename the thread though, quite irritating title.

                  Why is this necessary?
Knowing if they have leveled their stats or not does you no good at all...
Anything that it would effect that you WOULD want to know, such as armor, total hp, total mana, etc, has a value that represents it already.

In what instance would you need to know if they had stat points rather than looking at one of these other values?

A look at the amount of attribute bonus levels is just quicker than looking up the levels of all other skills.
If you ever saw DotA 1 commentators trying to find out the skillbuild of people you'll know what i mean.

                      ^ This

Knowing the skillbuild on The International games was hard as hell.

And, as the current level is even harder to see in that yellow circle, just count the dots and you'll know the hero's real level.

Also, it's a great way to refer to this post...

Yeah but if you're using stats to make the assumption they have skipped a level on something else, then don't you look to see what ability has not been leveled?

There's four other skills on the board that could have potentially been leveled instead of stats, and knowing if it's Mirana getting her ultimate or skipping it until later to max arrow and fall is a pretty big distinction that looking at stats is not going to tell you.

Well, imagine this scenario: You watch a replay of someone playing Medusa. She's level 14. Now, you see 2 points in Mystic Snake, 4 points in Mana Shield, 3 in Split Shot and 2 in Stone Gaze (just random numbers, not suggesting this is a viable build obviously). That means she's skilled Attribute bonus 14 - (2 + 4 + 3 + 2) = 14 - 11 = 3 times. Now, if you can honestly say that's simpler than simply glancing at the stats, then I will accept it as a valid argument. And it's not like there's anything there right now, it's just an empty texture.

@0verp0wer_BR: My apologies, I had no idea that you'd posted this earlier. I will credit you in the OP.

I agree with your reasoning...in that respect...but, that's not what I was referring to.

Using your same example, imagine you have 3 dots filled indicating he has +6 to all stats.
What does this information give you?
Does it tell you how much HP she has now? No, you'd have to look at her HP.
Does it tell you how much Mana she has? No, you'd have to look at her Mana.
Does it tell you how much armor she has? No, you'd have to look at her armor.
Does it tell you how much damage she will deal? No, you have to look at her damage.
Does it tell you what skill she didn't level up in place of it? No, you'd have to look at each skill.
Did she level chain? Don't know, let me look at the skill.
                              etc
                              etc

All I'm saying is that knowing how many times they have skilled Attribute Bonus provides you no direct information besides knowing what + they have to all their stats. But knowing that alone does not grant you anything of use. That's it. If people want dots there because the empty space bothers them, fine, wonderful. I'm just asking what does one do with knowing what + they have to their stats that is not already displayed?
