  • Expanded ability descriptions

Add additional (optionally displayed) information about hero-abilities.

Currently it is impossible to players to learn about the more obscure workings of their abilities (magic immunity-penetration, specific agh numbers, whether its an orb or not, etc.) while playing DOTA2. Instead players must go to playdota to learn more about heroes picked in a game.

I feel that it would be extremely helpful to simply include all this information as sort of an "expanded ability description", which can be brought up by, for example, holding CTRL while hovering your mouse over the ability. Yeah, it might turn out to be a wall of text, but it'd be an optional wall of text, and hell if we all don't need things to read while dead.

I feel this would help make DOTA more accessible to players interested in learning more/improving their game.

Also there should be an achievement for reading the expanded description of every hero's ability in-game. And maybe some kind of equippable massive tome that comes with it for Ogre-magi to swing around.

An expanded tooltip containing the "notes" sections would be awesome. :O

I support this idea or something like this. I wonder if there's a good way to use the "expanded tooltip" idea to also explain things like fake bashes, perhaps including that kind of thing in the description of passive bash abilities/items.

        I agree!

Something explaining whether an effect propagates to illusions would be nice, yeah. That'd even be a step-up from playdota's level of information!

Yeah, there's a lot of information missing.

Agh effect, cast range, magic immunity effects, linkins effects, and any other secondary or more detailed information (notes).

There are a lot of ways to present that information in a compact manner, and the dota 2 wiki does a pretty good job. With a little work, a similar interface would fit just fine in the in-game ability descriptions, IMO.

I would very much like to see this added to the game.

Advanced/Detailed tool tips on demand would be great.

Yeah, that would be awesome. I can't even keep count of the amount of times I've had to look up the Dota Wiki for details on just how that skill or item affect the game. Something like this is exactly the thing that should (and probably will) be under the learn tab. In fact, if I recall correctly someone at Valve threw out the word "heropedia" one time.

                    This would be incredibly useful.

At least there should be some kind of logic behind what information is shown. The cast ranges are shown for some abilities and for some not, whats the logic behind that? I think at least all numbers should be shown and what can be explained in a brief piece of text.

Now we have such option, but I'd like not to always hold ALT key every time I learn an ability, so I want an option to automatically show details w/o pressing the ALT key.

Adding a Detailed/Advanced Tooltips option to make the alt view default would be great.
