And I say no aswell. It should be about paying attention and trying to sneak in the base and all and not oh something is alerting me so I have to react.
Also says the announcer at your ears.
If you pay more attention into something visual then something auditive then its not the case.
    It improves the gameplay

I tried keeping polite, but most of the people responding to this thread don't even know how the game works, so it's extremely frustrating to see the same ignorant replies over and over. It's great to have a discussion, but it's not great talking to brick walls. Most people don't even know that the game already tells them their structures are being attacked. They think adding a small HP warning is going to give away something that isn't already given away.

I've already given up arguing with people that have no common sense to learn how to play the game before they argue against features that could improve what's already in place. Fact is, having a small HP warning flash when base is being attacked would not alter anything and would not give away any secret maneuvers that the attacking team is trying to do. The sound of the announcer saying "your ancient is under attack!" already does that. So, I really think this should be added, and if your only argument is that it will keep people from sneaking in the base and that mini-map awareness is important, then, yeah, you're obviously dumb and aren't paying attention to the game yourself.

Sorry, truth hurts. Give fresh arguments that actually go against the game mechanics already implemented and then we'll talk.

thats why there is alrdy an announcer that tells you that your ancient is under attack. we dont need more. you just want the game to be easier like all the ppl that post this kind of suggestions. the 10 sec to sell items can happen by a missclick, you not gona lose by a miss idk misswatching? you gona lose cause ur map awareness is bad and you cant figure out a np tped to ur ancient and is killing it, besides you have other 4 ppl on ur team. you need your team not more stuffs to make game easier

              big no -1

As one of the highest (Ranked - MMR) w/e you want to call it. I don't want this nor do we need it at all. I have enough things to tell me its being attacked, if you cant figure out its being attacked with someone screaming in your ear and shit flashing then you really should relearn the basics of DOTA. I without a doubt do not need a third thing telling me wtf is going on. Its not needed and to be honest it will not be implemented regardless of how much you guys want it. Just cause HoN or MNC has such a feature doesnt mean Dota should.

HUGE -1, this is not needed at all, there are more than enough alerts that tells me the buildings are under attack.

They should do this for Roshan as well. If an ally or enemy is killing him it would help to know when exactly it's happening and how much life he has left.

Its your responsibility to look at your ancients HP,
                        its overall map awareness.

When you're going full 5 man on the enemy structure and prophet decides to tp to your ancient,
its your duty to check if your ancient has enough HP to survive while you're taking down theirs,
heck its your duty to check your ancient, and that smexy announcer already annoys you that its under attack.

Now, if you see your ancients hp going down to a point that you need to defend it, youll have to TP back to base.
Now tell me whats the difference in you physically checking your ancient vs some HP bar on top telling you youre fucked?
Answer: learning to have better map awareness vs someone babysitting you by providing an HP bar on top.
It doesnt matter if its 100% 50% or some crap, if it goes 25% you tp back to defend it,
because YOU ARE AWARE AT ALL TIMES OF HOW FUCKED YOU ARE vs you being too focused destroying the enemys ancient to realize youre fucked.

HoN or LoL made babysitting features to cater to the younger baby gamers who had their hands held their whole entire gaming life
because too hard games means theyll ragequit. This is a common problem with gamers today, theyre too fucking soft, learn to get with
the mechanics, learn to gather information on the map, i suppose you want to have T1 T2 and T3 towers to display their HP as well?

Again, people keep suggesting things that would benefit themselves for their own personal gain instead of weighing the impact of said suggestion.

HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE MATCHMAKING? MUTE SYSTEM? THINKING EVERYBODY IS INFERIOR TO YOU?
WE HAVE THREE EASY STEPS TO TAKE CARE OF YOUR PROBLEM!

THANK YOU FOR MAKING DOTA2 A BETTER PLACE! AND REMEMBER, THERES NO GOING BACK

It affects gameplay, because it will be easier to notice when its gettting attacked.
"Oh but its announced"... In the middle of a intense fight, with all the comunication going on its easy not to hear the announcer.
                          Those are my two cents

IF its easy NOT to hear announcer, then its a bad design and should be fixed, maybe by adding a backup information system?
If you don't have an intelligent reply for me, don't bother I will shred your non sense to pieces.

                                First of all...

I'm arguing from an un-biased point of view. I never played HoN, LoL, or WC3 DOTA. I honestly could care less if this is added or not. I don't need it. I'm fine with it, and I'm fine without it. I'm only arguing for it, because I don't think it's a bad idea. Yes, I agree 100% that map awareness is important and that if you want to play this game there is a LOT to learn in order to succeed as an individual and as part of a team. This game is not newb friendly at all and it's HIGHLY competitive, and I like that! I played a lot of bot matches before I even set foot in a live game because I wasn't about to get flamed for not knowing at all what was going on. Unfortunately, most people aren't mature enough to acknowledge that stepping in blindly on a 5 person team is only going to drag everyone else down. They refuse to stop and RTFL or learn the damn game. There's dozens of websites, guides, FAQs, other players, you name it... to help explain and teach, but some just want to jump in and screw everyone over and act surprised when they're the target of all the insults of being terrible.

With that, I agree that there are PLENTY of warning signs that the base is under attack. Audio is a crucial aspect of this game, but I really don't think it's fair to assume that everyone that plays the game is able to hear. There are handicapped gamers, and at the VERY least, if NO other feature to warn players that their base is under attack, I at least think a closed caption mode should be added so that hard of hearing players can have the same warnings as those with audio.

So, as a compromise, I can agree that no additional base attack warnings should be necessary, BUT, a caption option to text warn those without hearing should be added so they have equal issued warnings as those that hear the announcer.
