First of all, I think the message should be displayed upon clicking it, rather than releasing the Y key. As far as I'm aware, there's no way to cancel the wheel, once you hit Y you're committed to saying something. This is a big hassle, lots of times I find myself going to call a missing and then the enemy comes out of the fog while I have the wheel up.
Second, if the wheel uses a click confirmation rather than key release, this would allow for much needed subcategories under some of the options. The best example of this is on the push and missing options, it'd be lovely if we could choose where the missing is being called instead of the game assuming we want to call it on our hero's location. Wanting to call a push for a lane other than the one you're in is extremely common. Instead, I propose clicking the "push" or "missing" options would then replace the wheel's options with "top," "mid," and "bottom," sending the chat command on this second click. Releasing Y any time during this would cancel without putting a message out.
