  • [Suggestion] Add buttons to the UI to say custom messages

It would be extremely useful to have a small bar of buttons somewhere in the UI, that sends user-specified messages to a chat channel.

A great use for this could be to report MIA, eliminating the need to type.

    Thanks,
    - Kor

Or we could try to preach for better voice communication by not doing that?

I don't have anything against your suggestion, but I also think that it might be interesting to keep it as it is and see were it leads.

A lot of players, myself included, don't want to voice chat with public gamers. I'll use voice for inhouse leagues and private games, but I refuse to voice chat with random 12 year old ragers.

I don't see why you would punish everyone because you can't handle this one kid. Just mute him and let us develop a fantastic and pleasant norm for Dota 2!

The fact remains that you can't expect everyone to use a mic, for whatever reason they may have.

This feature would do nothing but improve communication.

Or you could just type bind x say_team "MISS MID" into the console.

That's one way, but surely you don't expect all players to tinker with a console.

I think the voice chat function is great. if a "12 year old" is annoying you just mute him, but in my experience voice chat can improve enjoying your game in a huge way. If it is not exploited for spamming or flaming it could help the community merge.

Man it sucks so much having to type MIA constantly while trying to lane. Custom mssg buttons would be so useful!
