    The ' h ' key is used for 'HOLD' in the game, the hero wont move or attack unless the opponent comes in range.

    The range bit is very unnecessary, lets say you're running away from an enemy hero and you enter the woods, suppose you manage to Juke him and then you decide to hide in between the trees, you have creeps following the enemy hero so you have vision of him, but in his case he cant see you. So if he is in your range, you either have to tap the "s" or "h" key like crazy, as not to attack the hero and reveal your hiding spot.

    Wouldn't it be easier if the hold key not just holds the hero in position but also restrains him from attacking? I mean, wouldn't that make more sense? This would make last hitting easier as well.

    Turning auto-attack off will solve your problem.

    Yes I know that isnt a proper solution, but some people prefer to use H against bloodseeker ulti, which is just as niche

      I understand what you mean but, that situation is exactly when the players skill comes in play.

      To be able to keep your own range in mind while you try not to move (in case of being targeted by BS ULTI) is what makes a good play against BS ULTI.
      That situation is when the player needs to attack and button bash "s" and 'h" so as not to move.

      If the H key turned off auto attack aswell, ambushes would work a hell ofalot better.

        Actually I have a complaint about the 'hold' command and I use auto attack turned off. I never use it because it doesn't really do what it is supposed to do, or doesn't seem like it. One right-click overrides it completely. Furthermore, you can't rely on the hold command and expect your hero to attack enemy heroes over creeps. It just won't happen. I only used the command sparingly in WarCraft 3 DotA while I used it a lot in TFT. In DOTA 2, it is nearly the same thing as 'stop' and it seems rather useless.
        I will mercilessly add to my ignore list anyone that makes an incredibly annoying signature.

          A single right click will over ride any command, because, it's a new command... so... yeah.

          Hold is nothing complex... it holds your position, and attacks the closest thing in your range, until there is nothing in your range. It doesn't set a smart attack priority. The only time I use hold is if BS ults me and I want to at least take a swing at him if he comes to finish me off. Other than that, I haven't found much use for it. I sometimes use S to animation cancel, but, for the most part, I'm just constantly right clicking. BTW... I play with auto-attack off.

            That is exactly what i mean, hold could have so many more uses and not just for countering BS, for all the heroes.

            When ambushing, hold just makes all the players, hiding trigger happy heroes. A single hit from the closest player to the enemy hero and thatsit, the ambush is a fail. Then, they scurry off.

            Hold could have so much more uses "IF" it stopped autoattack. Or at least untill the opponent reaches melee range(which would work out for the BS ult thing since BS is a melee hero.

              I had to turn Autoattack off (which is the dumbest thing ever btw, why the FUCK did Valve implement this crap? One can't even S-cancel Attacks like this..) because Hold is a completely useless option and juking becomes practically impossible. Yeah, it sucks reaaaal bad.

                Double tap hold to stop attacking as well would fix this.
