The UI needs a "scale" bar -- it's MUCH too large right now.

Why not allow scaling? If you like it the way it is, then keep it. That's your preference. I personally would prefer to have it smaller.

The same argument applies for tournaments. As long as each player has the ability to adjust their UI to their own preference then I don't think there should be much issue. Do you really think that a personalized AI would, for example, make Pudge imbalanced because it'd be potentially easier to hook people? Besides, Valve is putting so much time into making the game gorgeous that I don't think taking up all that space with UI makes sense.

Although its already smaller than in WC3 DotA, it can be improved by utilizing the space not used beside the items and the hero portrait. It can be made much slimmer but I'm against personalized scaling.

Are they all first time dota players? I find it weird the reaction is this huge. Sure it could be improved but people who transitioned from wc3 shouldn't have such a big reaction o_O.

Now the UI waste 30% space in my screen, I use a 16:9 monitor, I think the UI need to be scaled down!
Actually dont need the UI when you are good at the game. The best way is everybody can customize the UI!

Mostly the UI is taking much space cuz it's mostly balance issue - how much can you see and etc.
And on high resolutions (I have 1680x1050) it looks pretty good and small=)

Everyone should see the same size UI, so there is no gameplay advantage to some players, who use smaller UI.
If they change the UI size, it should be locked and applied for all players.
So -1, I dont support the idea for adjustable UI size!

The thing is, Dota 2 is meant for wider audiences than just the faithful wc3 DotA players. I played DotA for about a year but then I switched to LoL mainly because it was more polished, as standalone games are of course. I can see that Valve tries to make this game as close as possible to it`s predecessor but you shouldn`t bring some of the bad design with it. In my opinion UI takes too much space and there should be scaling option or at least make the default one smaller, there`s no need for such a huge heroe portret or grey walls with nothing on it just to make it "fair".

After 30 hours of gameplay, UI size is the only thing that I don`t like because a lot of times I click on minimap by mistake, it`s just too big.

17... fucking... inches. And I'm doing good, actually. Yesterday, after more than 200 games, I clicked in the minimap by mistake. Then realized that I was playing WC DotA and not DotA 2. So, yeah, I think the UI is good atm; yet many features would be thanked by me and many.

23.9" screen and its way too big.

Imo theres ALOT of useless borders in the HUD. Minimap - character head - spells - Items. Why does there even have to be a small space with some grey HUD?

yeah .... there is no need to have UI same for everyone (depending on how good ur computer is and monitor settings... UI sizes change anyhow) .... but as it is ... the game is more zoomed in ... and such an enormous UI is just game hindering.

my screen resolution is locked in game and i cant make it more in order to make it smaller .... please fix this ... as it is i get myself killed by accident cuz of it. no space to even click to move :/
