  • Reduce Stash Size

    Hello everyone,

I don't know how everyone else feels about this but in my opinion the stash in Dota 2 is just too big and somewhat poorly positioned. It takes up a bigger part of the screen than it needs to and I would like to see that change.

I think the problem can be broken down into 3 parts:

    1. We always see all 6 slots instead of just the full ones:

To me this is the main problem and should definitely be changed. Why should I have to look at all those empty slots instead of just seeing more of the game? There's really no reason to always display six slots when in reality we're using only one or two 95% of the time.
I've played well over 1000 games of Dota 2 and never even gotten close to using all six slots.

    2. The stash is detached from the rest of the hud making it cover a more central part of the screen:

I don't really know why the stash isn't just adjacent to the rest of the hud.
Its position is just somewhat unfortunate because it makes the stash cover a more central part of the screen than it needs to. And in combination with its unnecessarily large size this is somewhat of an annoyance.
I'd like to see that change but it's not as high on my list as the slot thing.

    3. The frame around the stash is unnecessarily large:

I realize that this is mostly a problem of the default HUD, as the frame is non existent in some other HUDs but seeing how the default HUD is, well, the default HUD and a large majority of people still use it I think this should also be adjusted.
If my first two points get addressed though that might already be enough as the bottom half of the frame would probably be gone anyways.

What I think the stash should look like:

Now, I'm somewhat limited by my MS Paint skills here, I guess the real developers can make this look a lot prettier but this would really save a lot of space.

    Thanks for reading!

Is anyone with me on this?

    Thoughts?

Edit: To the dear mod that deleted all my pictures except for one and made my post look utterly stupid since I was talking about pictures that just weren't there: I have no idea why you would do that in the first place but next time you do it I'd appreciate if you could just write me a message or something.

I think there should just be a little button near the shop button that makes the stash appear or disappear, regardless of if an item is in there or not.

That way, cross-base item transfers would be possible, and it would be possible to move the stash out of the way if you wanted to.

I agree with Jonmcd. A button to show / hide is the better option.

If I had to choose one, I'd want the stash to always show rather than hide it / parts of it.

        1. What're you talking about? I'm always short of inventory space. If they increase size of inventory to 8 slots, I'll fill the extra ones with GG brances.
        2. I would like the stash to be repositioned too. It's not that important to cover extra game-screen space.
        3. A button to permanently show or hide the stash is also a good idea.

Basically, I agree with you except hiding the slots thing.

          1. No one is talking about the inventory, only the stash.

I would love an option to hide the stash.

Did you even read the OP?

Edit: My fault. I failed to understand correctly one of OP's point.

I'm pretty sure he did, the question here is if you did read it.
The OP is talking about the stash, not the inventory, he didn't even mentioned the inventory nor did he ever use the word 'increase'. Don't know where you read '8 slots'.

Guys I realize that an option to hide the stash is a popular idea here on the forums and in my opinion it's not a bad one at all.

This thread is not about that though.

It's about whether (while the stash is displayed) you would like to always see 6 slots covering your screen when really you just need one.

The two suggestions have a similar goal but both can be implemented at the same time, they don't exclude one another.

thats actually a really good point about seeing all six slots regardless of what you have in there.
