It's not about the grid-layout itself (as it's a custom layout taken from Cyborgmatt's screenshot), the suggestion is about the colors. Don't mind the grid or the layout.

Not really a good suggestion, as it will end up looking too bright that the hero portrait might not stand out. Same idea can be implemented by tweaking the colors of STR, AGI and INT a bit to make it blend with everything else.
