    Question [Q] Dota 2 binds and autoexec.cfg

Hey, I am a new player.
I did set up a autoexec.cfg which working fine except my binds gets all messed up.
My main experience with Source engine is CS. In that game it works great I put all my settings and binds in autoexec.cfg when I use a new computer I just use my autoexec and I don't need to set up stuff myself.
    However in dota I use
    Code:
    bind "q" "dota_ability_quickcast 0"
    bind "w" "dota_ability_quickcast 1"
    bind "e" "dota_ability_quickcast 2"
    bind "d" "dota_ability_quickcast 3"
    bind "f" "dota_ability_quickcast 4"
    bind "r" "dota_ability_quickcast 5"
As I always use quickcast with those keys and
    Code:
    bind "1" "dota_item_quick_cast 0"
    bind "2" "dota_item_quick_cast 1"
    bind "3" "dota_item_quick_cast 2"
    bind "4" "dota_item_quick_cast 3"
    bind "5" "dota_item_quick_cast 4"
    bind "6" "dota_item_quick_cast 5"
to always quickcast and use numbers for items. (Because of FPS) But when I start the game 1-9 is control groups and abilities use the default cast behaviour.

I have "host_writeconfig" at the end of my autoexec.cfg
I have "exec autoexec.cfg" in my config.cfg's last line.
I did try "exec autoexec.cfg" in console but it still doesnt change my binds.
I have "unbindall" before my binds.

The exec should do it. I have a custom one and it works. Is that all it has ? Try posting them and i'll give them a whirl, if you wish.

Slight curiosity: Why don't you use a custom cfg file ? I never understood the players' obsession with using autoexec.cfg.

Yeah I suggest you put them in a new .cfg file, with whatever name. Then in your autoexec.cfg all you need is a single line

    exec whatever.cfg

I don't use quickcast so I can't really say why it wouldn't work beyond that, although make sure you go through the options menu thoroughly.

If those keys are both included in the main client's option, it will only use the one in the main client's graphic user interface. If you see what I mean? So go ahead and look where 1-9 keys are set in the main options in order to be able to use them in the console command.

Or... he can just open the console and type "ex[tab key] wh[tabkey][enter]"

It's not that problematic :P It's also more reliable...
