I just got done installing dota2 on Cent OS 2.6.32-431.17.1.el6.x86_64 updated everything and installed steam / dota. My hero has about 100 sight range. Not sure whats up with this. Would like to fix it and dig further into the issue.

I have a Geforce 9600 GT with kmod-nvidia driver and the 32 bit libraries for 64 bit.

Well it appears to be a problem with SElinux. You have to do this
    yum install policycoreutils-python

then do this in su root terminal so you can see out of fog.
    setsebool -P allow_execheap 1

SElinux is blocking something that Dota needs. Also effects game sounds

If you have Fedora instead of CENTos or RHEL 6 then the command is this
    setsebool -P selinuxuser_execheap 1

    FIXEDDDDD
