I have been having this same issue. Everything downloaded, 64 bit system, validation raises no flags. Any body have any clue as to how to get this fixed?

edit: I have the custom games tab and whenever I try to create a lobby and start the game Dota2 Crashes.

There is still a launch crash that requires certain kinds of systems to have the steam client beta installed. Try again after opting in to the steam client beta.

    Hi Jay!

    Thanks for responding.

I have done everything on this page (https://developer.valvesoftware.com/...aunching_Tools)

I am also currently opted in to the beta client.

I am trying to go through my local logs to see if can find the issue. I will let you know if I find anything

    Problem Solved!

In my local machine I had Dota 2 in the Left for Dead 2 folder (there was a steam push a while ago that had that app misnamed)

However any time I would try to uninstall my local configs would stay and Dota would use those settings.

Pretty sure my issue is an edge case but in case other people are having the same issue and having the tools not work correctly. I will post what I did to solve it below.

    1)Navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common

    2) Find your Left for Dead 2 or dota 2 beta directory (in my case Dota was using the Left for Dead 2 Directory to boot dota I deleted the beta just to be sure)

    3) Delete or rename (if you want to be cautious)

    4) Download the alpha tools again

    5) Open up the tools and get to building!

I had this error trying to install the Workshop Tools on my Windows VM. What fixed it for me was transferring my whole dota_ugc folder from my Desktop PC (where the Tools are working) to my Windows VM.

    Hey everyone...

I just had the same problem... The things I did:

    1. Delete what you have downloaded of "Dota 2 Workshop Tools Alpha"
    2. View - Settings - Account - Change... (if you already have "Steam Beta Update") - NONE
    3. Press restart Steam
    4. Let steam boot up, and do step 2 again, but now activate "Steam Beta Update"
    5. Restart Steam again
    6. Library - Tools - Start "Dota 2 Workshop Tools Alpha"
    7. Prioritize that the Workshop download starts - Let it download
    8. NOW Dota 2 should start the update...

I hope this helps for you guys and girls aswell... GL and HF... See you out there in the big wide Dota map :P

Unfortunately you will not be able to install / run the tools on a 32bit system, the tools require a 64bit system.
