Thread: Packet loss 1/3/2016

    Still having some packet loss, which is causing some awful stuttering during moments of heavy activity.

    Something interesting things to note though:
    • I only get these packet drops during matches with real players.
    • When creating my own private lobby game (on Valve servers), I do not get the packet loss output. I've only tested these lobby games with just myself and bots, however.
    • I get packet loss on both US East and West, for any gamemode/custom game.
    • The packet loss beings at the very start of the match, during loading and hero selection -- all through the entirety of the match.
    • Packet loss is exceptionally noticeable during strict timing events, like last hitting or landing skill shots.
    • I noticed there are some SourceTV servers that run perfectly. I do not get any signs of packets being dropped. I'm guessing the issues are subject to a certain server range on Valve's side? Though I get the issues in both USEast and USWest. Not sure where SourceTV servers are hosted though.


    I've contacts my ISP, Verizon, a couple times and they were unable to find any issues.
    I've blocked out my IP, but here is some additional information on my ISP and the IP block I'm under (http://bgp.he.net/). If any Valve support would like some more sensitive details, I am open to discuss in private:

    This issue is still occurring.. I know everyone has been busy with TI, but hopefully someone will have a look a this soon.



    After a few more trials, I've noticed there are some games where I can play flawlessly. But a majority of them, I have this issue.
    I'm beginning to think the packet loss is due to something implemented with the recent updates. I don't think a certain server block is having issues with my ISP (as I've verified, I have this issue in US West Region, as well as some Custom Game servers that are not located in US East. I assume these servers I queue into, are on West as well).

    The strangest part with the packet loss, is that it mostly floats around 7-13%. Sometimes where are spikes; but a majority of the game, the loss fluctuates around that amount.

    No packet loss when i ping the server but i get packet loss in game. Any help would be appreciated. I also provided traceroute from google as well. ISP is Comcast

    Same problem here
    i'd like your support i get packet loss during game play only , it's working fine during watching matches. also i tried a the Iperf but i get this :

    Had this issue for over a year now. There is a reason Dota doesn't have a helpline; because they literally give no fucks if you have useless game as long as most people are happy.
