If you haven't noticed/heard of it yet, width screens 16:10/16:9 screens have much bigger field of the vision in DotA 2 compared to 4:3, 4:5 aspect ratio screens. What it means is that 16:10/16:9 screen users have quite an advantage in the game because they see much bigger area.

The only way to keep a same Pov for different ratios is to strech the game rendering. Unquestionably this will damage the game performance because it looks terrifically ridiculous. However, if you can bear the distortion, you may choose a width ratio as 16:9 or 21:9 in Setting-Video-Aspect Ratio with Fullscreen even in a 4:3 monitor. If there's no such an option, you can add a corresponding custom resolution in your graphic card driver and then you will find it's able to be select. No cheat is needed.

Maybe this will help you but I still suggest you just to buy a display device up-to-date. It will exceedingly improve your game experience.
