Is this relevant for spells? It shows Shackleshot hitting a target who TP'd away. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...YOQuiFk#t=253s

Stuff like that is a pretty common occurrence (shackles, lich ults, pudge hooks, etc)

Skip to 2:24 and watch the faceless void whack dark seer from preetty much a mile away.
This isn't happening anymore. I mean, I couldn't reproduce it.
When you get out of the range, while you are being attacked by a melee attacker, the melee attacker just stops his attack along with its animation, so such things aren't happening.

But, still, it is different from W3 DotA.
On W3 DotA, if you manage to do the same (I suggest using Spirit Breaker, personally I find his attacks easier to track due to its animation), you can see that the melee attacker finishes his attack animation. The damage is, however, not dealt, because when you do this, the attack is labelled as "missed" and gets evaded by the Force Staff'd escaper. It doesn't happen if you cannot manage to get out of a certain range by the time animation ends, though, which I think is 300 AoE, due to what I've seen in this thread.

Bumping to say that this is still an issue. A vast majority of my deaths and even kills would not have been possible if a range motion buffer existed; and I think it should because it really defeats some of the purpose of having attack/cast animations if they are going to land regardless of anything. Has valve said anything about this anywhere?

Do you even know WHAT a range motion buffer is? It exists, and that's fine. Just some of the ranges seem to be off.

I just got lassoed by a bat from 900 range away after i force staffed. Really quite frustrating... Dying in base from melee attacks is also retarded.
