This is what I meant in terms of "opening the game to a new player base" there are several people who would rather just use Linux period, gaming is something that restricts that if DotA2 was added to the list of supported games under the Linux OS I can guarantee it would make a lot of the Linux user base very happy and you would see a large portion of Linux users start to play the game and potentially making it Linux's #1 supported game.

I know at least 1 person who doesn't.
Except you count Virtual Machines as Computers.

I tried to write a tutorial for DotA 2 players that use Linux. It can be found here:

Removed Windows partition about a year ago (had only a VM with XP on it for my college lab work) and I am yet to regeret that decision.

I'll bump this thread to show Valve dev we want DOTA 2 ported for linux! Because Linux community is far better then Win or Mac.

Like they are going to make LAN Mode for Dota 2 ( pirate and play on platfroms such a GArena - LAN Emulator ) but not interested for Linux OS.

Cmon, we're using Linux because it's awesome not free !

    Regards!

    this deserves another bump.

Im a CS major and a Web Dev intern, and I use linux for all my schoolwork and my internship,

I only still have windows for Dota 2. I would LOVE if Dota 2 could run on Linux.

Didn't GabeN confirm already that Valve are supporting Linux?
It's more a question of when than it is a question of if.
