    Severe Lost Packets? (5-20s pauses every 1-5s) - No previous issue

    IMPORTANT UPDATE (July 31): eClub, publisher of Dota 2 in SEA among other games, have already used Team Viewer to try to fix the situation, but any known solutions were not effective. They sent the issue to Valve. Will keep you updated. In the meantime, if you have a problem similar to mine, I suggest you try what I tried in case that helps. =)

    I guess I am experiencing huge packet loss since July 23. The worst case happened today (July 28). I was stuck on the same screen and couldn't do anything. Sometimes I get 1-2 normal games, then the issue starts again. The games are unplayable with serious pauses. It felt something like about 5-20s pauses every 1-5s after the early game. This is coming from someone who is used to playing with low to high pings (i.e 400). The Match ID of the game I first experienced this is 27761570.

    I tested my situation in a private game with insane bots on the US East server (I am in Hong Kong, so the ping is normal) and experienced the same thing. It was still unplayable, but less extreme (I assume because I was playing with bots than people). Here is a shot from that game: 2012-07-23_00010.jpg. The issue happens on all servers.

    I have tried many things and determined what it is NOT. It is not an issue with the list below.
    1. NOT a ping issue. The ping is normal and fine for that game.
    2. NOT my internet issue. I have a 1000Mbps fibre optics connection. Here is a test for my internet: http://www.speedtest.net/result/2078687608.png I also tried a different service provider on 100Mbps.
    3. NOT my account issue. The same thing happens with a different account on my laptop.
    4. NOT my PC issue. All my other games and other programs are working fine.

    What I have tried
    1. Reinstalled Steam Multiple Times (Including Deleting the Steam File)
    2. Verified Steam cache files - Although even after this errors appear in the console upon start up
    3. Tried on different servers
    4. Checked for firewall issues
    5. Defragmenting
    6. Checked for viruses
    7. Tried replacing missing files stated in the console
    8. Tried with a different internet provider (Netvigator 100Mbps)
    9. Tried on a different PC.
    10. Tried with a different account on both PCs.
    11. Tried the suggested solution for laptops with dual GPU (http://dev.dota2.com/showthread.php?t=15261)

    I would really appreciate some help on this issue. Would appreciate people to stop suggesting for me to play on a server near me because the same issue exists on the nearest server. I never had issues on other servers and I need to play on other servers due to the nature of what I do. =)

    Sometimes I can't load the game to watch or play. This comes and goes too. (on July 22): I couldn't load a game to play or watch.

    Console info from the worst case:
    If someone is working on the packet loss issue, it would be great for those experiencing it to know. I just had a game where I got a disconnect for no reason. First, I could move with severe packet loss, then I was stick in one place for 20-30s. When I reconnected, I was stuck at the base. Then, some time during the game, I got a disconnect. I just played again because the issue seemed to be fine in a practice game. Game ID: 28790070

    In my last game i got from 180 ms to 250 ( Usually 150-180), not a big deal but i had a little bit of delay. But it was still playable. I hope this can help.

    I'm not sure what is the really reasons. But I have some idea why we got problems in game.

    1. Trojan virus
    2. Choose country nearest to you South East, Hong Kong and China
    3. Your account is bugs in the server, try to make a new account but if the problem still there may be your computer is the problem.

    Thanks for the replies.
    * The ping is not the issue but the constant very long pauses. That ping is normal for me for Hong Kong playing on the US East Server.
    * It's probably not a virus.
    * I need to be able to play on sorts of servers given the people I want to play with.
    * I do not want to have to use another account just to play because I have items and a full list of contacts on this account.
    * I highly doubt that it is an issue of my internet or my PC, given that both are top-notch and not having any issues with any previous used or newly added games.

    I really would appreciate some help from Valve because I am really uncertain that there will be any quick fixes available for this.

    I mean you try other account to your PC to find out where is the problem. If the PC or your Steam account? If other account works properly in your computer then your real account have a problem in the Steam server.

    It is now impossible for me to test what the problem was for this situation now because my original problem has returned. I now cannot load games to play or watch: http://dev.dota2.com/showthread.php?...383#post294383

    It is not an account related issue because the same thing is happening for different accounts on this PC.

    Would be great if someone could help me.

    I see...Hmm..I think there is a problem with your PC. Did you try to play Dota 2 in other PCs? If not try to test your account in other computer. If same thing happen I'm sure the problem is in your account but if it is work then I'm sure your PC have a problem.

    24 July, around 5am +8GMT: I could load games to play/watch again (because previously that old problem came back). I tested the situation in a practice game and it seemed to be fixed.

    24 July, around 12noon + 8GMT: The same unplayable delay happened again. Game ID 27968788. There was a Steam update before I could play that game.

    I'm having similar issues and wondering if its related to your issue. Game will stutter and drop in framerate at random times but for me it kicks back into normal gear after 30 seconds or so. Only happened recently for me too

    Hello, I'm suffering from this problem for the past 4 months after a certain patch, its neither because of my internet ( I've checked with ISP ) . I'm frm Malaysia and connecting to SEA server, my ping just goes insane in game jumping from 100-150-200-300-400-500 sometimes 1000, also I've started treads regarding to this but yet no feedback from valve, very disappointing indeed.
