[Confirmed] Spell Steal takes wrong level skills

    Summary:

Rubick's Spell Steal should take the unit's last cast skill (assuming it is a valid skill to steal), equal to the level it was last used. The spell currently steals the level the player has, rather than the level that they last used.

    Repro steps:

    1) Create an enemy hero, put 1 level into a skill and use it
    2) Level the skill one or more times
    3) Steal with spell steal

    Result:

The current level of the skill is stolen, instead of the level last used.

    Expected result:

The level last used should be stolen (i.e. if DK used lvl 1 dragon form, then put 2 levels into it afterwards rubick will steal lvl 3 dragon form where he should only steal lvl 1)

I guess it was easier that way to implement.

Slightly annoying bug. I remember playing Invoker having 1 Forge spirit and leveled up quas, then rubick stole forge spirit and has more Forge spirits than me.

Actually, that is how it worked in DotA against Invoker, IIRC (you'd steal the spell at the level Invoker had when it was stolen, not when he cast it), so that instance is working "correctly" (as in, how it worked in DotA 1).

Support the way it is right now. It would be a HUGE nerf to rubick

Baloroth is right about dota1 Invoker:

but of course other spells works at cast time, not steal time . Invoker could be fixed to store cast orb level, but wasn't probably due to not caring about it or too much code needed; Would be nice if devs intentionally make this consistent for every spells.

It's not an incosistency and whether it is a bug it is yet to discuss. You can see it from two different sides and therfor justify it differently.

But what's for sure is is that it also worked in DotA 1 that way.
