You didn't get any experience while under Astra Imprisonment. This was however changed due to balance issues. So all those casters saying you shouldn't get xp under Astra imprisonment are wrong. It was fixed. You can test this in the latest DotA 1 map and you will get experience.
This thread is only about if a creep gets denied while under Astral Imprisonment. The trigger that checks for Denied Units can't find Hidden units, that's why they don't get XP.
So it could be an intentional fix.
    It's definitely a nerf though.
If you were replying to me saying that in general no XP is gained under the effect of Astral Imprisonment, I have found out that it is an issue with the Test Map.

^Agreed. Since the fire bird got changed to always gain xp, even during ulti, it seems like this is intended.

When I tested it, enemy hero gains experience in Dota1.

    Then your test was incorrect.

It's like this for 2 years now. It would be a buff when it gets fixed, not a nerf when it doesn't. And honestly, the XP steal was just a side-effect from a WC3 function, yes, you could have fixed it like you could with the runes that Spawn when you receive Linken's Sphere while under Supernova. But that doesn't change the fact that it was an unintended side effect. They were just too lazy to fix it in DotA 1 (to be more precise: it would make the code more chaotic/complicated).

Same goes for Exp gain on Supernova. It's actually exactly the same situation. The problem is that it adds stuff to the existing code. Which means that your code will be more cluttered. Somewhere else I posted a quote from IceFrog where he told me that he won't fix all bugs (in DotA 1). And this is the obvious reason for it.
Remember, if you add code to various places (you would have to add it to the deny-trigger for example), it will make the code difficult to maintain, since your functions are spread all over the program. The result is a rather complex and chaotic design where it is difficult and dangerous to change lines.
The idea is that you want to update DotA 1 every few months, and that means you want to have its code easily changeable.
