I call for a 16:10 tweak to make it more equal to 16:9
    No.

lol. That 16:10 don't have the same wide like 16:9 should everyone know. Buy 16:9 then.

This needs to be fixed. Every resolution should have the same advantage. No game can be competitive if the base experience is not constant among all players.

impossible hence why they balanced it by making 16:9 the standard

    why is it impossible?

if 16:10 provides less width, it should provide more height

currently it provides less width but no change in height

Except there are people out there that use their monitors for more than just playing Dota and watching movies (Hint: 16:9). There are many reasons why people prefer 16:10 and why it's superior to 16:9 but I won't go into that. Thing is 16:10 is by design made to offer more vertical space than 16:9. Take these two resolutions: 1920x1200 and 1920x1080 - the 16:10 is going to offer 120 more vertical pixels.

Anyway by using this very simple logic that you're not going to give any compensation to 4:3 players (because obviously they lose A LOT in horizontal space) then why would you do it differently for 16:10 players? (If it wasn't clear what I mean, take these resolutions: 1440x1080(4:3), 1920x1080(16:9) and 1920x1200(16:10). 4:3 is going to lose 480 horizontal pixels but 16:10 is going to lose horizontal pixels AND vertical pixels to get adjusted to 16:9.) The answer is unfortunately very obvious and that is: because the vast majority of players are using 16:9 and that's what you chose to balance your game around. That's fine I guess, but by the way this game is made, you see the map from an angle and action happening from all sides, I think vertical space and horizontal space are equally as important so I think it would be fair to some extent to give 16:10 a bit more vertical space and for 4:3 more horizontal space as well.

Anyway, I have a 16:10 26'' monitor and I prefer to play 4:3 because that's what I'm used but I've been trying to switch to 16:9 because I feel I'm at a disadvantage.

It's not impossible, but it would require scaling the image from 16:9 to 16:10 which would make it look a little weird. But yea, there's no way to have the same quality image showing the same area of the map on different aspect ratios. That should be obvious, but a lot of people seem to overlook it.

I don't understand why people with 1920x1200 monitors would care though. Just set the resolution to 1920x1080 and your problem is solved.

If you have a 1920x1200 monitor, and you set it to use 1920x1080 instead of its natural resolution, in most cases that will rescale the image in exactly the same way that you thought would "look a little weird".
