Don't know why game statistics should be private by default. Looks kinda stupid to me.

It should set be public on default and you have to have the option to set it private. Facebook and every other community site works the same way.

dotabuff chose their own faith with setting their DBR to public

either give the option to set it to private or make it private automatically, now valve stepped in and showed they don't want such a rating-system by 3rd parties
well done and i agree with valve

If the setting means that matches are invisible without 10/10 players choosing public, this has essentially destroyed dotabuff. No third-party statistics site will ever be possible, and we'll be left with Valve's garbage "most skilled heroes" and a slow-and-clunky Win/Loss page that requires you to launch the client to find.

If Valve are going to basically kill off a community statistics site, they should be providing a similar quality of statistics themselves.

And they're not. Not even close. Regardless of what you think of DBR, even the Match History page is leagues better than anything Valve offer, and that's without even mentioning hero statistics or player information.

I completely agree with the leet dude. I really appreciated that change.
Although I always thought that DotaBuff itself should show that maturity and individually ask for permission from each player, like the way they requested a Steam Login for their survey,

Thanks Valve for being the big dude contrary to the DotaBuff guys.

I hope DotaCinema also shares a similar faith for distributing bugs as MYTHS all over...

To be honest, the site exists because Valve allowed it in the first place.

What is exactly being destroyed here?

You want your data to be on DB, you set it to public. Valve gave you choice.

Is this a rant because you won't be able to insta-flame teammates with lower DBR, or won't be able to leave the game during loading phase because of the same reason?

Or are you arguing that DB should show people's stats even when they don't want to?
