    30/01 Patch WebAPI Update

    WEBAPI
    - Added Captain's Mode Picks and Bans.
    - Added ability upgrade order and times to each player.
    - Added inventory for additional units (Lone Druid's Spirit Bear).
    - Added an API for getting match details in the order they were recorded.
    Hello everyone, these are the new additions that came with the latest patch!

    Also, can anyone please elaborate on "Added an API for getting match details in the order they were recorded" ?

    Moreover, our dear Valve, since it is clear that you are working on the WebAPI could we get some questions answered on the future of the API and how would you like us to be using it?

    Thanks in advance for any answer!

    Cheers,
    Two

    Well this update was a step in the right direction. It brings us one tiny step closer to getting all the data we used to be able to get from the replays...

    I am stumped too by that last point.

    All of this frustration would not have happened if we had had a simple statement from Valve or the developers regarding what is happening.

    http://api.steampowered.com/IDOTA2Match_205790/GetMatchHistoryBySequenceNum/v0001/?key=<key>

    Code:
    						"name": "GetMatchHistoryBySequenceNum",
    						"version": 1,
    						"httpmethod": "GET",
    						"parameters": [
    							{
    								"name": "start_at_match_seq_num",
    								"type": "uint64",
    								"optional": true,
    								"description": ""
    							},
    							{
    								"name": "matches_requested",
    								"type": "uint32",
    								"optional": true,
    								"description": ""
    							}
    						]

    Last point likely refers to IDOTA2Match_205790/GetMatchHistoryBySequenceNum, which seems to be exactly as it says: match history in the order the matches were recorded.

    Moreover, our dear Valve, since it is clear that you are working on the WebAPI could we get some questions answered on the future of the API and how would you like us to be using it?
    What do you mean "how would you like us to be using it?" It's an API, it's for community developers to determine how and what they use it for.

    All I mean, is some guidelines on whether we can commercialize the data (like what DB did), how to be using them, and up to where they draw the line (for example DBR, or any other similar ranking anyone can think of).

    I think the answer is purely going to be: push it as far as you can, and when you cross the line, you will get shutdown.

    Yeah I know what you mean, that is why I would like to know before I cross that "line". I mean, you know, should we invest time and effort into making something? Even more, should we invest money into a project with the thought of monetization it in the future, or will we not even get there?

    Depends on the monetisation scheme. Use your common sense.

    I don't think anything there limits commercialised use of the data.

    Yeah, that is my current guess as well. Well, we will see!

    Btw, has anyone thought of setting up a wiki just for the DOTA2 WebAPI? Might get Valve to actually reply on some stuff!
