    [Suggestion]Stop key should stop all actions, including auto-attack

    There is already a thread about hitting "Hold" twice to stop all actions, but I believe this is unnecessary cumbersome. Currently:

    Stop - stops a creature from moving for a split-second, and then continues on with default behavior
    Suggested Stop implementation - stops a creature from moving and disables auto-attack; any other action reenable autoattack

    I would gather than the suggested implementation is 10x more useful than the current one brought over from DOTA. This is the way HoN does it and its simply better.

    Another idea is to have a setting in the UI that you could check which says "Stop command also stops auto-attacking". That way, both implementations are allowed. I don't think its necessary, though, because the "Stop" command is so rarely used.

    You are aware, that many players use Stop for lasthitting?

    Prefering an extra (and already taken!) hotkey over a doubletab because of REACTION SPEED is just ridiculous...


    All the old WARCRAFT commands have basic behaviour, modifying as few aspect of the units behaviour as possible.

    Stop simply cancels all current actions (movement, attacking, casting), no further effect. The uses of this simple command are abundant.
    1. canceling movement
    2. lasthitting
    3. canceling a spellcast (saving mana/cd for a better opportunity)
    4. faking a lasthit
    5. faking a spell (for example stun)
    6. stopping attacks when being taunted (doesnt stop counterhelix though)
    7. creepblocking
    -feel free to continue-



    The uses of the command, you are proposing are: 1. disable autoattacking



    p.s.: why the heck is this in "hero hud"?

    no thanks. leave the functionality as is.

    This is the way HoN does it
    nobody cares about what hon does. leave that awful game behind.

    Why the sigh? Is it difficult to have a rational discussion about something without being a "tired elitist" about it?

    I currently have auto-attacking off. You're missing the point. Turning off auto-attacking decreases DPS...but I'd much rather be able to micro my last hits than having to deal with constant spamming of a key to cancel my auto-attacking.

    Having to spam stop to avoid auto-attacking is not a challenging skill. It's just annoying.

    if this were to be implemented
    what would take the place of the current "stop" function?

    and doubletapping is so.. easy..

    in fact EVERY of the aspects i listed is ruined by your implementation since your implementation brings a HUGE sideeffect (you can guess it: the not-attacking part). Every of those aspects would require an ADDITIONAL command to bring back the normal and desired behaviour.

    So please.... think it over... just because you cant control your hero properly on the lane, doesnt mean, that you have to ruin all micromechanics envolving stop command for other players, who are unfortunate enough to listen to your - given lazy - argument.

    Nah, didn't like it.

    As i said in my thread about hold position, i'd rather not have the functionality i want if it means making hold position and stop functions modified. I feel i'm not alone on this.
