    [Confirmed] Undying's Soul Rip uses wrong unit count and should ignore dirge & target

    DotA 1: Soul Rip counts Dirge + X nearby units → (X+1) × 25 HP
    Dota 2: Soul Rip implies Dirge to the unit count → X × 25 HP

    Oohhh, you're reporting as if you were reporting a DotA1 bug. Got me confused for a bit.

    I checked, and it should exclude Dirge in DotA 1 as well.

    Edit: Because of how the unit counter works, the skill actually is 6/11/16/21 units counted. The caster and the target are never counted. That's where your discrepancy comes from.

    are those calculated or measured damage values, li.lo?

    It's bugged, but not in the way li.lo stated. The spell specifically excludes the caster and the target from being counted, but in Dota 2 it uses 5/10/15/20, while in DotA 1, it uses 6/11/16/21.

    i measured it with a lot of eidolons to heal a allied unit. the result was that in dota 2 it just takes dirge + maximum 4 nearby units at lvl 1 (lvl2 dirge +9; lvl3 dirge +14; lvl4 dirge + 19).
    it actually should take dirge + 5/10/15/20 units.
    reaching the unit count limit is more likely in the early level/stage

    But why is the title "should not include", when it's not counting in DotA2 and it is in WC3 DotA?

    ok let me discribe my expression.

    right now the unit count includes undying within the amount of valid targets for soul rip. but he should be seperated from that count to make it equal to dota 1. And this led me to the title.

    i wasnt writing in the title that he should be removed generally as a valid target for soul rip. i just wanted to point out that soul rip's unit count should consider other 5/10/15/20 units around him.

    furthermore i didnt want to note 6/11/16/21 units cuz this would maybe mislead into a incorrect interpretation at a self-cast

    Ohhhhh, now I get it. I thought you were being sarcastic due to the recent dota1 fixes.
